Historia
Pagans explores the rise of Christianity from a surprising and unique viewpoint: that of the people who witnessed their ways of life destroyed by what seemed then a powerful religious cult. These "pagans" were actually pious Greeks, Romans, Syrians, and Gauls, who observed the traditions of their ancestors. To these devout polytheists, Christians who worshiped only one deity were immoral atheists who believed that a splash of water on the deathbed could erase a lifetime of sin.

different, rushing, a bit unorganized
Revisado: 02-01-24
I enjoyed some content of this book but I find it difficult to organize them in my mind. The real problem is the telling, feels like it has no period, only commas, feels like endless sentences. The voice is nice but I feel hurried as if the sentence is to be continued.

Historia
Do you practise meditation because you want to feel good? Or to help you relax and be "happy"? Then frankly, according to Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse, you are far better off having a full-body massage than trying to practise the Dharma. Genuine spiritual practice, not least the Ngndro preliminaries, will not bring the kind of comfort and ease most worldly people crave. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Historia
China's foreign policy initiatives, even the vaunted "Belt and Road", will be shaped and redefined as they confront the ground realities of local and regional politics outside China. In China's Western Horizon, Daniel S. Markey, a scholar of international relations and former member of the US State Department's policy planning staff, previews how China's efforts are likely to play out across the swath of Eurasia that includes South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Drawing from extensive interviews and historical research, Markey describes how perceptions of China vary.

good information, not as good conclusion
Revisado: 08-07-22
there are lots of meaningful information here. but I am hoping to hear the perspective from the other countries stoo. Seems like the writer believe that the countries that accept China's cooperation, suddenly are guilty and ignorant of the future consequence of their decision. I think at least their perspective should be shared here also

Historia
In an air-conditioned university office, a man lies dead, brutally bludgeoned. A hundred miles away, in the high, arid New Mexico mountain country that Sheriff Cliff Lansing is sworn to protect, an animal is devastating ranchers' livestock, and is now turning to human prey.... For Lansing, the two cases are linked. The murder victim was part of an archaeological dig, and a local Indian believes that the animal killings have been unleashed by the excavations.

Fast paced enjoyable listening

I listened to this for a few minutes then I postponed it until a few months later. Then i listened to it again. And I found myself enjoying it a lot. A mix of killer monster, bad guys, a little romance here and there
