Fantastic audio!
Revisado: 03-09-22
I love the tropes of brother's best friend and opposites attract and they're both so well done in this story! Great characters are brought so vividly to life by Dyess's outstanding performance. It's enhanced by Hoopes who has narrated so many stories in this genre, she's practically the voice of sweet romance. What a wonderful collaboration between the three of them. If you need something to listen to this weekend, this would be a wonderful choice.

Three swoony hero voices!
Revisado: 11-19-20
Comprised of three short stories, the writing is strong, with long, flowing passages describing the western setting in glorious detail, the stories cute and fun and that's all Jay Dyess needs to turn this into an absolute must-listen. The characters absolutely come to life with his unique, quirky voices. He builds a beautifully emotional, multi-dimensional story world that practically lives and breathes on its own. Perfect pacing, comedic timing that is spot-on and emotional depth. A sweet romance trio that has been eloquently voiced by a master storyteller

High rated story. ⭐️Amazing narration⭐️
Revisado: 10-24-20
Over on Amazon this story has over a hundred reviews, most of them five star. I think it’s safe to say Alexa Verde has a great story on her hands.
Jay Dyess is an awesome narrator. He can make an average story sound fantastic. Give him good material and he will absolutely take your breath away. Perfect comedic timing, voices that turn characters into real people and that “it” factor that only Jay has that somehow takes the reader from their ordinarily world, wraps his magic around them and turns the fictional world into something so real it’s like you’re living it.
A wonderful romance that absolutely comes to life under Jay Dyess’s master storytelling.

Historia
When Bree Garrett’s former college roommate invites Bree to move to Starlight Ridge, a small tourist town on the Californian coast, she is all too happy to leave the deserts of New Mexico and the memories of her former life. She only has three conditions. One - No one can find out about her fear of water - totally embarrassing when you live next to the ocean. Two - No seafood. She can't stomach it. Yeah, she sees the irony of points number one and two. Three - No blind dates. The last thing she needs is a relationship. Her ex-fiancé would agree.

Great beach vibes!!
Revisado: 07-26-20
I loved this story when I read it, and I loved it the second time as I listened.
The beach vibe is fantastic, the small town so real and alive and the characters are well-drawn with enough quirkiness to keep you smiling.
And the romance is beautiful and sweet. Great emotional scenes and all those feel good beats.
The narrator, who has a pleasant voice, reads the story like she loves it.
A great romance audio for a hot summer day!

Historia
Chip Inman’s life trajectory was always meant to lead him straight to the NFL. But a nasty head injury during his last college home game threw him into uncertain territory where memories were hard to come by. Greta Griffin, a shy dog groomer with aspirations to train service dogs, was instrumental, years ago, in helping Chip Inman graduate high school. She’d had feelings for the star quarterback for as long as she could remember, but didn’t run in his circles.

Tender, romantic performance
Revisado: 06-03-20
Jay Dyess is a favorite narrator of our whole family and I totally stalk his releases. We absolutely love him as a cowboy. I was very curious to hear him as a football player.
That said, I was not sure how I was going to enjoy dual first person pov with a single narrator. I wasted my time worrying about that. Jay is one of those rare people who have the talent and ability to do much harder things than dual narration. He handled the female pov beautifully, making it sound natural, cute and completely different – like there were actually two narrators – than the male.
And Jay as a football player? In romance? I’m really not into football players, but Jay made him sound sexy, yet sweet and endearing, tender and romantic, and there was no way I could keep from falling in love with Chip.
The story itself had good writing and plot, but reading it would not have kept me enthralled the way Jay’s perceptive interpretation did.
This story was given life and masterfully done by a voice actor who, I think, can perform anything.

What makes a romance novel a romance? Writing a well-structured romance isn't the same as writing any other genre - something the popular novel and screenwriting guides don't address. The romance arc is made up of its own story beats. Told in conversational (and often irreverent) prose, Romancing the Beat is like sitting down to coffee with romance editor and author Gwen Hayes while she explains story structure - the way she does with her clients, some of whom are regular inhabitants of the best-seller lists.

Doable ideas for anyone.
Revisado: 08-23-19
Yeah, there were a lot of sports references. But they definitely helped bolster the main points.
The theme that ran throughout the book - average can become exceptional - resonated with me. I believe that certain people have more natural ability than others. But I also believe that hard work pays off. This book helps give ideas on where to focus that hard work. It reminded me some of atomic habits.
The narration was clear and well-done.

Historia
Arlen Blumhagen captures the feel of the western wilderness of the late 1800s in this story of one man's adventures across the American wilderness. Mount leads a simple life, using his skills to survive in his cabin on the side of a mountain. When circumstances require him to make a trip into St. Louis, Mount thinks it will be a quick visit to the big city and then home. What he isn't prepared for is the request of Andrew Worthington to lead his family through the wilderness and up through the Oregon Trail.

Humorous western yarn.
Revisado: 08-23-19
This is a fun western adventure that doesn't take itself too seriously.
I agree with other reviewers who said this was not historically accurate. However from the tone of the story, it feels like a tall tale, or around our house, we'd call it a truck driver's story - long on entertainment value and short on confirmable facts and accuracy. A tale told to make listeners laugh and maybe even gasp and one where the teller has as much fun as the listener.
Mr. Dyess, one of our family's favorite narrators, excels at bringing stories to life, and he definitely worked his magic on this. His tone and pacing, and especially his comedic timing, work together to draw the listener in. He gives the story authenticity and makes it feel like it's being told by a real "mountain man."
If you're looking for something to amuse and entertain, this is a great choice!
