Historia
An explosion and fire at the Ashton Gunpowder Mill in Kent has killed over a hundred men. It's called an appalling tragedy - until suspicion and rumor raise the specter of murder. While visiting the Ashton family, Bess Crawford finds herself caught up in a venomous show of hostility that doesn't stop with Philip Ashton's arrest. Indeed, someone is out for blood, and the household is all but under siege.

Historia
No one liked CC de Poitiers - certainly none of the residents of the village of Three Pines, each of whom CC had managed to offend. Therein lies the challenge for the Inspector Armand Gamache of the Sûreté du Quebec, called in once again from Montreal to investigate murder in this hamlet. CC has been killed in an apparent electrical accident, and everyone in town has a motive, even the inspector's good friends.

These stories are compelling! Inspector Gamache is my new hero. I love him and I love Three Pines. My only complaint is the language.

The Best so Far - even if it only book 2!
Revisado: 11-06-12
"My Dearest Peabody!" and her husband Radcliffe are again off on another excavation to preserve the antiquities of the ancient Egyptians while fighting off knives, poisons, visions in white and their own desperate care and love for each other - which creates dangerous situations as well. I cried and laughed - "He had a headache!!" And I thoroughly enjoyed this book - can't wait for more adventures!

Historia
The police never notice the small detail in the background of a police photograph of an abandoned car. A detail that tells Detective Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte plainly that the mysterious disappearance of Luke Marks near Windee Station is anything but accidental. Why had Luke Marks driven specially out to Windee? Had he been murdered or had he, as the local police believed, wandered away from his car and been overwhelmed in a dust-storm? Bony feels the answers lie somewhere in the sands of Windee.

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Winter or summer garden...your choice!
Revisado: 09-17-12
If you could sum up Winter Garden in three words, what would they be?
We are family
Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?
Mom - her voice was a crisp and clean as were her actions.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I mourned...and rejoiced. I did not know much about the Siege of Leningrad and often found myself cold and shivering during the telling of the "fairy tale." I realized we are all a part of the family that has gone before us - whether we want to admit it or not.

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

This book is not headed for "oblivion!"
Revisado: 09-17-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Everyone with cancer...or not...young or old should read this book. I am currently surviving cancer and so many thoughts I could not express showed up in this book. The metaphor of the grenade was sadly so true. I cried and laughed and cried again. Oh, the sweetness of love and the bitterness of loss. This will become one of my all-time favorite books.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Augustus - a true teenager - madly in love, wanting to leave a legacy and make a difference, and figuring out how to deal with his own mortality.
What about Kate Rudd’s performance did you like?
I can't forget "Hazel Grace." Kate could talk like a teen-ager and still sound parental when needed.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The Fault In Our Stars - but not in our dreams.

Historia
In his wickedly brilliant first novel, Debut Dagger Award winner Alan Bradley introduces one of the most singular and engaging heroines in recent fiction: Eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. It is the summer of 1950 - and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia’s family calls home. A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath.

Yes - just to hear "Flavia, Flavia, Flavia!!" And because Flavia is a delight to know.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie?
When Flavia begins to see the pain in her Father.
Have you listened to any of Jayne Entwistle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but this one is superb - will buy the others.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes - and I did...almost
Any additional comments?

Historia
The nude body of a man is discovered entombed in the walls of Split Point Lighthouse on the South-East Coast of Australia. Investigating the crime Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte, the half-aborigine detective, wonders why a coffin is moved at night, who was the girl struggling with Dick Lake on the cliff top, and what caused the Bully Buccaneers to deal in death. Thoughtful, delightful
Revisado: 09-04-12
What did you love best about The Clue of the New Shoe?
The characters, their honesty, their humanness, their lives
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I enjoyed being inside Boney's head and listening to his reasonings.
What about Peter Hosking’s performance did you like?
The accent for each character - I truly could tell which person was speaking by the way Peter was talking and it was easy to distinguish them.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
SPOIL ALERT - When the wife confessed her small part in the deed and her husband put his crippled hands on her head...and then Boney's resolution to the matter. I truly loved him.
Any additional comments?
No ugly violence, no awful swear words - just pure entertainment, mystery and real life. I will download more of these.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
You bet! This book has totally changed the way I communicate with others and I feel so much more connected to people. I am deliberately removing the word "no" from my vocabulary and I have chosen the word "calm" as my word. I repeat it over and over at night when I can't sleep sometimes. Just saying the word, spelling it out and repeating it over and over changes my heart beat and changes my thinking.
Have you listened to any of Mark Robert Waldman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The power of "NO."
Any additional comments?
I just want to know who will use their compassionate listening skills on me. I need to talk sometimes, too.
