Historia
Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

Supernatural, Sarcastic, & Funny!
Revisado: 04-07-16
What made the experience of listening to First Grave on the Right the most enjoyable?
This book had a great balance of action, interesting characters, plot, humor, & surprise. One of my favorite things about this book are the t-shirt descriptions, they are always hilarious & often sarcastic. For example: “You know you have ADD when Look A chicken - T-shirt” ― Darynda Jones, First Grave on the Right
Who was your favorite character and why?
Charley is my hero & I want to be just like her when I grow up! She is a relatable, sarcastic, & often humorous private investigator, & she can see dead people!
What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?
I wish she could read all of my audiobooks. I love the tone & expression in her voice, best narrator & my favorite so far!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reactions to this book, but it often made me laugh. It was a very enjoyable book & a great start to the series.
Any additional comments?
If you're looking for a new action packed & funny supernatural series, this is it! You will love it!

Ella Mae LeFaye's Charmed Pie Shoppe is wildly popular in Havenwood, Georgia, which is not surprising since Ella Mae can lace her baked goods with enchantments. The shop's extraordinary success seems destined to continue when Ella Mae meets an engaged couple who hire her to handle the dessert buffet at their wedding.

It wasn't my slice of pie, overdone & cheesy
Revisado: 04-07-16
What disappointed you about Peach Pies and Alibis?
In book two I expected the colorful characters I liked to develop more, but instead I just got more shallow characters added into the book. If you want to listen to a women describe every single detail of her dessert & ingredients to you, like the just picked mouthwatering peach, then this is the book for you.
What was most disappointing about Ellery Adams’s story?
I was hopeful this book, the second in the series ,would be better than the first, but that was not the case at all. This book was even more shallow than the first, it felt unbalanced & did not flow well. We go from magic to murder to detailed pie description, never getting to the next level, barely scratching the surface.
Would you listen to another book narrated by C.S.E Cooney?
Yes, overall the narrator did a good job.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Peach Pies and Alibis?
I would take out half or more of Ella Mae's descriptions of pies. Just because she owns a pie shop, it doesn't mean that's all she should ever think or talk about.

Less Description & More Mystery Please!
Revisado: 04-07-16
What disappointed you about Pies and Prejudice?
One reason for purchasing this book was the setting, because it was in Georgia, my home state. Unfortunately, after reading this book I felt like it could have been small town anywhere, but not in a good way, it was lacking the southern charm I get from most books I read based in the south. I almost feel like the author has never been to a great southern town in Georgia like Savannah. I can get over the lack of southern likeness, but what I can't get over is the main character of the book, Ella Mae, she spent way too much time in her head whining and describing desserts. I wanted less pie combinations and more character development, and most of all more mystery.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ellery Adams again?
Yes, I finished the book and didn't completly hate it, so I bought the second book in this series. Maybe book two will surprise me!
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I felt like the narrator's voice was a bit monotone, they need to be more expressive with their voice.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I liked the idea of this book the most. This book had potential to be great & I enjoyed some of the colorful characters.
Any additional comments?
I like happy endings, but it was a bit too cheesy for me. The end!
