"Youth" was not my first contribution to Maga. It was the second. But that story marks the first appearance in the world of the man Marlow, with whom my relations have grown very intimate in the course of years. The origins of that gentleman (nobody as far as I know had ever hinted that he was anything but that) - his origins have been the subject of some literary speculation of, I am glad to say, a friendly nature.

I’m a sucker for sea tales and Conrad’s intimate knowledge of boats, sailing, and the men on them makes Youth as good as it gets. Gaspar Ruiz is another incredibly real feeling historical drama set in a revolution. Another winner.

I grew up in Texas and was never taught about this massacre even though it was right next door in Oklahoma. Sad thing is, that’s probably true today too.

These are amazing. Not sanitized, and sometimes bloody. But here are the roots of Grimm and many Disney retells. I like how the narrator has handled this one.

Finding from my own personal experience how troublesome it is to hunt through piles of dusty old volumes, I have decided to make a small selection of these papers which I consider are not only rare and very interesting, but which also give an insight into the varied activities and achievements of Burton’s crowded life. It will, I think, be realized that such a volume as this will not be superfluous, for, apart from saving people an enormous amount of trouble, it will give them further insight into the life-work of one of the greatest men of the Victorian era.

I love this audio book. Burton was the most exciting explorers of the last great age of discovery. The narrator does a superb job of presenting these papers in audio format.
