A book that gets better with age.
Revisado: 06-23-16
I enjoyed this book when I was 20. I enjoyed it more this time because at 52, I'm the same age as Henderson and on he makes so much more sense.

History repeats?

I hope it does. This was a great addition to the series, but the ending seemed too happy, too final. I'm looking forward to where the story goes next.

To make matters worse, Adam and the Institute have captured Akil at a time when the city has never needed him more. An excellent beginning
Revisado: 03-07-16
These books are a great read. The world building is solid and consistent. Repetition of info from earlier books is held to a minimum and feels natural. The narrator does an excellent job of bringing all the characters to life with unique voices.

Like coming home
Revisado: 12-30-09
I loved these books in high school, some 25 years ago. Catching up with Tass and Tanis and the gang again was like a homecoming for me. So maybe my love of this book is colored by nostalgia. Still, it was the great adventure romp now that it was then. Sure, it's light reading that just makes you smile. But that's what I want from AD&D books. Tass' voice took some getting used to, but that could just be because it didn't match the one in my head when I first met him a quarter a century ago.

Safe, sane, consentual vampire BDSM?
Revisado: 12-30-09
This book seems to be have been written as much for members of the BDSM community as for vampire erotica fans. The author could have left the vampires out altogether and this would still have been a rather good tale of a curious young woman's introduction into the BDSM community. If you want bedroom philosophy and a tutorial in slave training, you'll enjoy this.

Wonderful voice
Revisado: 12-30-09
I'll admit I had to fight the instinct to skip over all of Amy Tan's work as being "chick fiction," but I'm glad I didn't. The characterization and storytelling is rich and developed. The story is amusing and it truly does feel as if the reader is being told a story. As for Amy Tan's voice, the Asian and California accents are spot on and I found her tone conversational, which made the novel more enjoyable ... as if I were being told a story by someone who had been there.
