what a disappointment. looking at table of contents, i found book interesting but narrator voice was so awful that i cannot listen to it. other people may not have the same problem so let us know if it is a good book.

Of two Great Courses about China, I first tried Understanding Imperial China: Dynasties, Life, and Culture by Andrew Wilson. I had to return it because the Prof. Wilson inserts his own personality and experiences into the course. I believe, with his frequent digressions, he is trying to be personable, but I found it annoying. I want to learn about China, not Andrew Wilson.

After returning Understanding Imperial China: Dynasties, Life, and Culture, I purchased the Great Course From Yao to Mao: 5000 Years of Chinese History.
I am enjoying the clarity of the information in this course. Dr. Hammond is very linear. He presents the material in an organized manner without personal asides or digressions. This couse offers a clear view of the political and historical evolution of China with explanations of the significance of each change.

some of his phrases are so stunningly beautiful...you just think: how did he think of saying it like that?

and a very good story too.
