Fascinating

I really like to learn about other cultures and this was a fascinating brief glimpse into the native people of such a beautiful part of this earth, and the terrible tragedies that haunted one man and his community. Bravo storytelling of this true crime incident. The audio recordings of the interviews gave it a tangible feel, like you are sitting right there with them. 4.5 stars

Fun mystery!

I enjoyed this story and its little twists, quirky characters and subtle macabre atmosphere. Very entertaining and great narration too. I would like to read more from this author and hear more from the voice actor. Well done!

One of my favorites

This is my second time through this book. I read it when first published and wanted to listen to it now. I love the magic, the way your senses come alive when hearing the lovely descriptions. It is deep and complex, and a book you escape into, like falling down a rabbit hole. And the narrator is exceptional. I recommend diving into this fantastically creative story!

I read this for a book group, which should make for interesting discussion. I give it 3.5 stars because the writing was good and the characters well developed. It is more violent than I expected but, given the nature of the story, that makes sense. It is a scary, alternate future world the author envisions, much reminding me of The Hunger Games. Human nature's proclivity towards violence is all too real, and this story reminds one of that sad fact. As for the voice actor, he was excellent. He differentiated the characters so well that I knew who was speaking.

What will YOU do next?

I enjoyed listening to this because I felt it was written from an authentic perspective of teenage viewpoints. Such an important issue that we as a society must confront and resolve! Excellent writing and voice acting. If anything, I wanted a little more closure on the story, what happens next? What happens to certain characters, etc. However, I think the authors wanted to leave it with a message of hope for their futures... and a future that unfolds ahead of all of us. What will YOU do next?

A quick and fun listen for Alien fans. I would love to see a reboot or continuation of the Alien series. Makes me want to go watch the old DVD's again! Nice that Michael Biehn reprises his role as Hicks- he's awesome. Also Lance Henricksen as Bishop- cool. The other voice actors were very good too.

Beautiful and moving

I now understand why this is a bestseller. A human (and canine) experience story unlike any other, using the metaphor of racing in the rain for facing life's challenges. Such wonderful characters and writing! With underlying lessons and moments we can all relate to. This story makes you feel a range of emotions. I recommend this book highly and it will always be one of my favorites!

We could all learn from this little story

Enjoyed this little tale about a holy man who's gentle teachings touch and change the lives of others. Some great human lessons to be learned here, as we all should ascend to being kinder and more tolerant and live a peaceful existence. If you are looking to find some peace in your heart today, have a listen.

Highly recommended for historical fiction lovers. The writing and performances are stellar! A heartfelt story of innocents struggling to survive wartime. Completely worth my time and will listen again!
