Solid addition to the series!
Revisado: 04-02-25
This was a great book that answered some of the questions I’ve had since book one! I will say tho, I did not enjoy the Poe poetry. I get why it was there/what it was supposed to do, but it felt like something I just had to get thru just to get back to the story. It was distracting/pulled me out of the story more than once. Besides that, the storytelling was great & I loved the glimpses of characters we’ve known for a long while. The world was very consistent across books too.

Seems like there were several “fast forwards” towards the end…
Revisado: 02-08-24
Overall, I loved the book, but some of the story lines seemed to just go from straight up conflict to a one liner or brief monologue & then complete resolution. Honestly, it just seemed like the writing got a little lazy in the end & there was a need to just “skip to the good part”. I found myself being surprised by how quickly characters changed their minds about something with no real development outside of a small bit of dialogue. It felt rushed.

Historia
It’s spring break in the Outer Banks, and the islands are swarming with rich tourists. The last thing JJ and John B want to do is spend their week watching Kooks in action, so they plan a fishing getaway to the notoriously dangerous Frying Pan Shoals - nicknamed “Graveyard of the Atlantic” for good reason. Turns out they aren’t the only adventure-seekers at sea. Soon after they set sail, the friends run into the captivating Savannah, who hitches a ride aboard the HMS Pogue when the weather worsens and her boyfriend leaves her stranded.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Story was great!
Revisado: 11-16-23
I appreciated the work that went into the world building. It would’ve been nice to get out of Violets perspective & hear more from other characters like Xaden & her mother. The sex scenes were corny & gave me the ick so I skipped over them, but overall a solid read!!

Historia
Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?

Did not finish; not worth the read
Revisado: 03-03-23
I LOVE all of her other books (have read them all more than once) but this one was a struggle to even try to get into. The story was so slow to get going, there was no character I took a liking too, the secret society stuff wasn’t really that interesting & the child being raped by a ghost made no sense—absolutely egregious in my opinion & that’s when I stopped. Return to your old favorites, this one was slow, uninteresting & filled with a bunch of confusing & unnecessary elements to the story. Hard pass.
