Whispering narrator
Revisado: 09-07-22
The narrator is not great imo. I couldn't get over the raspy whisper. The story is somewhere in the middle of the road as far as stories from this particular author (although still better than what many other authors release). I requested a refund and will just continue to read on kindle without the narration.

Historia
Jasper Sutton—London’s most dedicated scoundrel—needs a wife, and he needs one quickly. He needs one yesterday, in fact. His requirements are precise: she must be capable of mothering the wild twin daughters who have unexpectedly appeared in his life, and so must possess the patience of a saint and the understanding of an angel. Better still if she is plain and has no expectation of a true marriage. He is not about to reform his ways.

Just my cup of tea
Revisado: 06-13-22
This book was like being wrapped in a warm cozy blanket: misunderstanding didn't go on overly long; H and h were pretty much all-in from the get-go or at least acknowledged their desire and feelings for the most part; sweet gestures and protectiveness; funny in just the right spots, especially the h's internal dialogue when trying to resist the H. (I will not kiss him, I will not kiss him, I will not kiss him) I never pre-order audiobooks/printbooks, but I adored this one so much that I immediately pre-ordered Rafe's book.
Also, the narration was amazing. I have purchased a couple audiobooks in the past that have both a male and female narrator, as does this one, and I have to just say THANK YOU to whomever made that decision. When you have two really excellent narrators, it improves the experience/engagement so much versus a single male or female narrator. I hope dual narrators becomes more popular!
Both narrators were incredible, but have to give a special nod to Victoria Aston who was just so absolutely spot on with the h's slyly funny little bits of dialogue that are peppered throughout.

Loved it...I did not want it to end (again). When a book gives me warm fuzzies and has me grinning like a fool through most of it, well that is why I'm here. Wish I could bottle that feeling! This is absolutely the author's best IMHO. The narration was really well done as well...she really captured the essence/heart of all the characters. Wonderful...love it when a book ends and I walk away feeling it was money and time very well spent!!

Historia
London banking heiress Hattie Greenfield wanted just three things in life: acclaim as an artist, a noble cause, marriage to a young lord who puts the gentle in gentleman. Why, then, does this Oxford scholar find herself at the altar with the darkly attractive financier Lucian Blackstone, whose murky past and ruthless business practices strike fear into the hearts of Britain's peerage? Trust Hattie to take an invigorating little adventure too far. Now she's stuck with a churlish Scot who just might be the end of her ambitions...

Disappointing ending
Revisado: 09-14-21
Adored the first two in this series, and this was actually turning out to be my favorite of the three. Then the ending happened. Heroine ended up being so selfish...if it had happened midway through the book, she could have probably been redeemed. But waiting until the final couple chapters? Evie Dunmore, you can retrieve your dagger from my back now.
Lucien ended up being so tender hearted, yet bad a$$ when his wife needs saving. Definitely in my top six H's of all time. I mean this man started out so clumsy with Hattie, unsure of how to go about being a husband....he is freaking reading books on the love language of flowers right after she rejects him. He tried so hard to make her happy. Lucien is just too precious. 👑🦁💖 Narrator was awesome...nicely done all the way around.
Not disappointed I used a credit for this one, but I do wish I would have stopped listening at around ch. 35 or so.

Would have been better if a standalone
Revisado: 08-31-21
First, Tim Campbell is his usual wonderful self. Love his narration! Okay, this book....if I hadn't already listened to the first two in the series, I think I would have enjoyed it. But the Grace in this book is so out of character it was jarring. I was looking forward so much to her story, but I'm not going to finish listening. I'm just going to file this one away until next year and see if I have forgotten enough of the Grace of the previous books to let myself enjoy this one. (I did skip book 3 so maybe I missed the h getting a brain injury, a-la Phineas Gage, that caused this sudden drastic jarring change. Grace is unsure of herself and soft...the hubba hubba scene in ch. 8 or 9 should have been at the end of the story....we should have been shown Grace slowly changing from soft and scared to this confident woman. Really a lost potential for a beautiful growth story in this one.

Love this one!
Revisado: 08-13-21
This was my second listen. The author is a new favorite for me! This story is my favorite of the four in the series. Some may not care for brief OW - but in this story the way it played out was a complete non-issue for me. I've noticed some people *really* don't care for Mary Sarah's style of narration and/or accent, but honestly I really love listening to her typically. There is really only one time I can recall where her performance was a detriment to the story (Stacy Reid book/lisp issue - not sure what was going on there!) But I think she was the perfect fit for this series. She is great at differentiating characters as well as showing emotion through tone of voice. Overall, this was well worth the purchase! I hope Audible plans to give us more Jillian Eaton books on audio! 🤞

Having seen firsthand how love can bring a man to his knees, he's determined not to make the same mistakes his father did. After a winter storm leaves him stranded with Caroline, Eric turns around and finds himself stumbling over the wife he never wanted...but is slowly beginning to desire....or was it?

Wish this was a full length, but honestly I don't feel cheated like I usually do with novellas. This was d@m* good. I loved it and would totally buy a full length if the author decides ever to expand on this one. Off to listen to novella #2!

Loved it
Revisado: 07-19-21
I really enjoyed both the story and the narrator. Really, the feels in the first half of the book as the H/h were slowly coming to care for each other and the attraction was building, was amazing. And I could see this narrator becoming a new favorite for me along with my other tried and true favs...Landor, Wells, Campbell. I'm completely on-board for another release from this author/narrator duo.

Mixed feelings about this one
Revisado: 06-15-21
The narrator did a great job, as he always does. The story was enjoyable, I just didn't ever get the emotional connection I expected to have for Justin's story. I really loved Justin in the previous books, and still love his character in this one, but there was just something missing and I can't quite put my finger on it, but I didn't find myself emotionally invested in the HEA for these two. That said, I'm not sorry to have used a credit on it, I just don't think this one will go into my repeat file. :)

Historia
Lady Frederica Darlington isn’t prim, obedient, or appropriately dispassionate as a proper lady of the aristocracy should be. Nor is she interested in securing a husband, whether rake, rogue, duke, or lord. Freddy wants to live as she pleases in a place she feels she belongs, and for a unconventional lady, the bohemian world of Covent Garden seems the perfect spot. She has a plan to achieve her goal, but when one of her secret missions goes awry and the King of the Underworld rescues her, danger never looked so enticing.

Why did I wait so long to try this author?!
Revisado: 06-13-21
Been ignoring audible's suggestions for me of Julie Johnstone books...mainly because the titles gave me the impression (wrongly) they would be overly simplistic and silly. I have to say though, I really enjoyed the two I binged this weekend! (this one and book 3)
So, yes they do follow a formula for the most part, and you know what is going to happen by the time you are done listening to the prologue, but the dialog is truly enjoyable and clever...heavy and poignant at times and laugh out loud funny at times! Just the right mix IMHO. For those of you that have already read this one...ch 8 or 9 through ch12 or 13 was amazing, right?!?! "He lit me up like a chandelier!" I just absolutely adored Freddie!! I think she has to be my favorite h so far this year.
I really regret not giving this author a chance long ago when she first came up as a suggestion.
And Timothy Campbell uses his rough-n-tumble voice for the H in this one (ie, Taming the Beast, etc) so yeah, it was worth a credit to listen for that reason alone! Yowza! He really has that street savvy gangsta with a heart of gold PERFECTED. Please, can he read all audio books going forward? Get him in the recording studio full time because nobody else can come close!!!
