But Hetty isn’t an easy friend to have. She blows hot and cold, alternating between fierce loyalty and unwarranted cruelty.

With friends like Hetty, who needs enemies
Revisado: 04-24-25
I didn't like the chemistry between Abby and Hetty. Typical example of annoying personality from someone who has it made in life versus meek personality from someone who struggles to make ends meet. Sort of a cheerleader vs nerd scenario. There were some good parts to the story (mostly the ending), but overall I found the interactions between Hetty and Abby just annoying. I think it a bit of a stretch to call Hetty a friend to Abby. She treated her horribly.

Eleven years ago, six kindergartners went missing without a trace. After all that time, the people left behind moved on, or tried to, until today. Today five of those kids returned. But as details of the disappearance begin to unfold, no one is prepared for the truth. This unforgettable novel with its rich characters, high stakes, and plot twists will leave listeners breathless.

A huge disappointment
Revisado: 04-23-25
This is one of those books that could have the length cut in half and not really change the story. I didn't like the focus only being on just a few of the missing 6 children. The town didn't seem to care much about where they were and why. The overall story just bugged me. The person behind it wasn't mentioned in the story until the end and then wasn't even caught. Some of the missing kids seemed more concerned about remembering their love life instead of what happened to them. Maybe this would be better if I was a YA book reader. It just felt juvenile in writing style and overall story.

Good but could be better
Revisado: 04-19-25
This story had a lot going on. Many characters and plots within plots. Jumping back and forth in time and between all the characters was a tad confusing at times with the audiobook. The horror aspects were good as well as the overall story. I would have preferred less chaos and more back story.

Pretty decent story
Revisado: 04-16-25
It started off slow and got better. I knew something was up with Ian because he was so secretive about his life. No real big twists or climatic ending. Definitely shows what some people will do for love. Characters were good and overall plot was decent. Just not much meat to the story in general. Both Ian's and Danyelle's mothers were obnoxious.

Historia
Andrew Thale is not exactly thrilled when his overbearing father sends him on an errand to assess the property inherited from an eccentric aunt. Andrew is intrigued though, when he finds the house fully occupied. Its odd and interesting residents have a calming effect on him, especially the beautiful young woman named Tarragon. But his arrival seems to have set a series of mysterious events into motion. Narrator John McDonough’s engaging performance lets you share in the excitement and camaraderie.

Charming story

A short and charming story. Simple family mystery to solve and father/son family drama. I liked the changes Andrew goes through as a result of being sent to check out the house. Interesting characters that are likable.

A little hard to follow all the characters
Revisado: 04-11-25
I think this would have been better as a book I read rather than an audiobook. The constant changing of characters telling the story from their POV was a tad confusing. It also jumps back and forth between past and present. Lots of ladies doing dumb things that has a trickle down effect to others in their lives. It wasn't too difficult to figure out some aspects of the twists and there were enough red flags all through the book. Still, it was an interesting story.

Couldn't keep my attention
Revisado: 04-07-25
This book was just ok. I found the narrator's voice to be too monotone and didn't help keep my interest in the story. The ending felt rushed and not well thought through. A few loose ends from the first book were answered, but overall just an average story.
I received an audible ARC from StoryOrgin and this is my honest review.

Revisado: 04-05-25
Much like the first book in the series, this one was just ok. I didn't find the murder mystery all that interesting. The story seemed disjointed. The characters seemed to be different people in this one too.

Better than the 1st book
Revisado: 04-04-25
This was better than the first book in the series. Jamie's abilities fit into the story better and made more sense. I liked the search dogs being different breeds and trained for what they do. Mild romance, good action and small twist at the end. Good characters and plot.

Enjoyed the K-9 aspest
Revisado: 03-31-25
I don't think the book needed the added bit about Jamie and her son being able to see ghosts. In some ways I think that took away something from the story. It was interesting to see how dogs are used in missing person cases. I think the ending was a bit out there and lame, especially on the why it all happened. But, there were some good parts to the story too.
