The Best ML Book on Audible
Revisado: 07-20-24
This is the best machine learning book on Audible. It's well structured, clear and well balanced to suit beginners and provide value to those who already know a bit. Just one annoying thing, of all the words in the vocabulary the narrator struggles with the word "vocabulary" constantly mispronouncing it as "vocabloory", "vocbury", "vocablury", "vocaboolry and I found it quite distracting.

Historia
The Martian meets Gravity when Army Pilot Vaughn Singleton, Earth’s last man, rushes to Area 51 in search of a spaceplane after he discovers the last woman is stranded on the International Space Station and barely alive - thus beginning a race against time. The event that wiped life from the planet started at the supercollider. It created a rift in space-time. The astronaut stranded aboard the space station, Commander Angela Brown, is a theoretical physicist who used to work at the collider.

A bizarre narrator arrangement!
Revisado: 11-30-23
Two main characters, a man and a woman. Two narrators a man and a woman. What do they do? They make them do opposite gender voices. Unbelievable.

A great book but the absence of a much needed PDF diminishes its practical use. The narrator keeps referencing figures you don't have access to.

This book was a joy to listen to from start to end and Stephen Fry's narration is spot on. Hoping they release the rest of the books in this style.

Historia
If you’ve done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe? Which is exactly what the crew of the Heart of Gold plan to do. There’s just the small matter of escaping the Vogons, avoiding being taken to the most totally evil world in the Galaxy and teaching a space ship how to make a proper cup of tea. And did anyone actually make a reservation?

Shrill, Screechy, Unlistenable Narration
Revisado: 01-20-23
After Stephen Fry's soothing voice in the first book the cartoonish voices of this narrator grate on one's eardrums. The sample you hear may not contain the irritating parts. You've been warned.

Living and slaving in Fill City One, you get used to the smell. We call it the Everpresent Stink. But every once in a while, on a spring day with a breeze, it clears away enough to remind us that there is something more out there. Most Fillers' wildest dreams would be just to get past the walls and live in the mainland. But my dream? It’s a little bigger. I’m going to Mars.

Fun on Earth. Dull in Space.
Revisado: 11-22-18
Enjoyable right up to the departure time. The actual sci-fi plot quickly falls apart and dies on Mars, and with it all the entertainment and fun of this book.

Historia
Bradbury's Mars is a place of hope, dreams, and metaphor - of crystal pillars and fossil seas - where a fine dust settles on the great, empty cities of a silently destroyed civilization. It is here the invaders have come to despoil and commercialize, to grow and to learn - first a trickle, then a torrent, rushing from a world with no future toward a promise of tomorrow. The Earthman conquers Mars...and then is conquered by it, lulled by dangerous lies of comfort and familiarity, and enchanted by the lingering glamour of an ancient, mysterious native race.

Nothing "Guerrilla" About This Book
Revisado: 06-15-16
This is a really good guide to basic PR without a single instance actual guerrilla approach. Essentially, Levine mixed up words "cheap" and "guerrilla". He failed to bring up any significant digital PR opportunities, despite his attempt to stay in touch with the trends.
So the value you'll get from this book is:
1. Wisdom and perspective from a PR veteran.
2. Some low-budget PR tactics.
3. Occasional creative PR example.
4. Lots of useful, basic and common sense PR advice.

Historia
On June 30, 1908, an object fell from the sky, releasing more energy than a thousand Hiroshima bombs. A Siberian forest was flattened, but the strike left no significant crater. The anomaly came to be known as the Tunguska Event, and scientists have never agreed whether it was the largest meteor strike in recorded history - or something else. Alien artifacts have been uncovered since the 1908 event, and a new star drive is discovered.

So close...
Revisado: 08-31-15
This book came very close to be one of my favourites but I just couldn't buy into the whole renewed cold war scenario. There are some pretty unreasonable hostilities in this book which don't build up or have a good explanation.

All males sound like cartoon characters.
Revisado: 06-17-15
Great book. Great idea. Great story. Two objections...
One: Male Characters
I wish Mary Robinette Kowal wouldn't attempt to do male voices and instead just read everything in her natural voice, which is quite pleasant and crisp. Males sound like cartoon characters, or idiots perhaps. I found it distracting and difficult to take the story seriously.
Two [Light Spoiler]: Emotional Impact
I am a hard science fiction fan and don't care much for character development for as long as there is a cohesive story with good amount of interesting ideas and technical background. That said, as a father, I found it difficult to understand how easily one of the main characters abandoned his kids. More importantly how can Neal Stephenson as a father himself write such shallow nonsense?
