If you've read Jack Campbell's lost fleet, then you've already read this story, as this one is about as close to that as you can get and not be called out for plagiarism. Still, I'm partial to these kinds of stories, so I enjoyed it anyway. It would have been helpful if the author had just come out and told us who the five were, instead of assuming the reader already knew. Considering this is book 1 in the series, the reader was left to puzzle out an aweful lot, especially if said reader had no prior exposure to this line of books. I had read one previous book, though that book was somewhere in the of the series before this one, as far as I could tell, so I just didn't have the background to grasp all the loose threads in this one. Even so, I still liked it, and will not neglect to read more should I cross paths with them, but I doubt I'll be adding them to my must read list, especially since I already read most of The Lost fleet series, and generally, I don't like to waste my time reading a book I already read once.
