Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

This is a compelling read. I have listened to a number of audiobooks on the American Revolution, but this one let's you see the founding fathers through Hamilton's eyes. It's a long book, but never dull.
It gave me an even greater appreciation of Hamilton the Musical. Lin-Manuel Miranda has packed nearly every highlight from these 800+ pages in his lyrics. It's one of those stories that even though you know how it will end, you can't put it down.

Good performances and storyline
Revisado: 03-24-16
Listened during 10 hour road trip. Kept me engaged but ultimately was hoping for a better twist at the end. I read other reviews that warned of disturbing subject matter. But I did not find it graphic at all. Overall a good read.

Historia
In a pulls-no-punches essay intended to provoke rational discussion, Stephen King sets down his thoughts about gun violence in America. Anger and grief in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School are palpable in this urgent piece of writing, but no less remarkable are King's keen thoughtfulness and composure as he explores the contours of the gun-control issue and constructs his argument for what can and should be done.

This is something every american should listen to.
Revisado: 03-11-13
Stephen King is one of my favorite writers. Unlike Hollywood types who tackle social issues with little more than celebrity, this is a fact based look at both sides told in a compelling narrative.
This is a tough question:balancing tinkering with the Constitution and common sense. I don't own a gun and abhor senseless acts of violence by crazy people. But there are two sides to every story and King tells them.

Building upon this critical work in Good Calories, Bad Calories and presenting fresh evidence for his claim, Taubes now revisits the urgent question of what's making us fat - and how we can change - in this exciting new book. Persuasive, straightforward, and practical, Why We Get Fat makes Taubes' crucial argument newly accessible to a wider audience.

Great Book --- Until the End
Revisado: 01-07-13
Very interesting book. Well written, researched and presented. Why we get fat is well documented. "What to do about it" is a little misleading. Most everyone knows that sugars and carbs make you fat.
It is not until the very end of the book that you learn that your genetics trump almost everything, and if you have got the fat gene, the only way to keep weight off is to fast. I was annoyed that I put so many hours into listening attentively, hoping for an easy solution, and discovered that there was really little I could do about it.

Worth listening. A great way to get a dose of American History and a good laugh at the same time. A little irreverent, but that is to be expected from Stewart.

Historia
Frequency is all the buzz at the box office, so now's the time to revisit one of the best time-travel books ever written. Step back in time with Simon Morley to the New York that once was, as he is transported from the mid-1900s to the year 1882. Morley solves a mystery of the 20th century by discovering its 19th-century roots, and falls desperately in love with a beautiful young woman in the process. He ultimately finds himself forced to choose between his lives in the present and the past.

Great Story. Great Audiobook
Revisado: 06-11-12
I chose this book based on a recommendation from the Afterword by Stephen King, in his audiobook/novel 11-22-63. He claimed it was the definitive book on time travel and that was what inspired him.
I bought the abridged version, but wished I got the unabridged version. It is a very entertaining story. The narration is excellent, and as far fetched as time travel may sound, he makes this believable. The characters are likable and there is a good storyline. I have recommended this to several of my friends who have liked it as much as I did.

Great Story. Great Audiobook
Revisado: 05-21-12
At first I was reluctant to download this. I had seen the movie and wasn't sure the book would be as entertaining. What a great book. This is a compelling story. It is also a great "short" book based on a novella. Sometimes I don't want to wait 30 hours to find out something ends.
After listening to this, I downloaded 11-22-1963 by Stephen King. Another outrageously good book. These are among my favorites.

Aza is far from beautiful. With pale skin and blood-red lips (not to mention ungainly size), she is seen as odd, at best. But Aza does have one blessing: a voice of astonishing beauty. In Ayortha, where singing is the main mode of communication, this gift is no small thing, and soon Aza finds herself rising at court. But, as she will discover, unexpected good fortune can also bring unexpected danger.

My 11 year old daughter loved this
Revisado: 05-07-12
This audiobook has lots of singing, so it is a great listen. I encourage her to read and listen to books like this to develop different kinds of comprehension skills. It also helps to get a narrator's voice in her mind, so that when she reads it on her own, she can match the rhythm and character voices.
My daughter loved the story, the production values and the singing.

Very Worthwhile
Revisado: 01-29-08
I found this to be very useful. As it turns out, I am one of those people who may come across as being arrogant. I think many of us can see ourselves in the 20 bad habits he documents. To get this kind of information in a corporate setting would cost thousands. This book has caused me to think...which is the highest accolade I can give.
