Kept me guessing
Revisado: 12-09-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Found this one to be very entertaining and a good follow up to Under the Amoral Bridge
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Know Circuit?
The bizarre events that occur just outside of Boulder had me thinking the writer had lost his mind and veered off into a fantasy novel. All explained in time and in an interesting and geeky way.
What does Joe Hempel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
This narrators voices and technical performance continue to improve. I am grateful for his consistency, as it helps keeping track of the characters. His voice is a good fit for the genre.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
He knows a guy...

I needed more Cyberpunk in my diet
Revisado: 12-04-15
What made the experience of listening to Under the Amoral Bridge the most enjoyable?
What other book might you compare Under the Amoral Bridge to and why?
A dystopian future setting where corporations run cities in the vein of Stephenson's Snow Crash. A self deprecating, amoral, but likable and funny protagonist reminded me of the old Stainless Steel Rat's Jim DiGriz.
What about Joe Hempel’s performance did you like?
Joe does a great job here with the snarky hero and his beefy sidekick. His character voices are consistent and female voices don't sound strained or too high pitched. (except the whiny teenager who is supposed to)
From a technical standpoint, there is a little echo and background, but it's not so much as to be distracting. I didn't notice any production errors at all.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I like this author's brand of humor and the book had me grinning more than a few times. I look forward to the next installment.
Any additional comments?
I like Sci-Fi, and detective novels and these books make for a nice change up that still has elements of both.

In depth and informative
Revisado: 11-24-15
More than just a documentary or a rehashing of articles on the subject. The author really rolls up his sleeves and digs in.
Concepts are explained with relatable analogies and never seem condescending. Both sides of every argument are examined and described thoroughly.
The narrator has a pleasant voice, with good pacing and speaks clearly, which is important given the subject. The recording is good quality and well produced.
I enjoyed the book and feel like I have a much better understanding of this very current topic.

Good balance of action novel and SciFi
Revisado: 10-06-15
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the way the scientific concepts were presented and that there were enough action scenes to keep the story moving and engaging.
What about Joe Hempel’s performance did you like?
The narrator has a pleasant voice that is easy to listen to.
Any additional comments?
AI is a pretty hot topic recently, this book presented some concepts that I was not aware of and did it in such a way that I could grasp them easily and form some opinions about them. At the same time, I was able to enjoy an action story with an unexpected twist at the end.

Audible Frontiers
Revisado: 10-11-11
I won't address this novel, though I suppose it would be more correct to do so. I purchased this book based on a recommendation from a trusted source. Later this source said he could not get through the audiobook and was forced to download the digital "print" version to finish. I don't blame this source, I don't blame the narrator, but rather believe that Audible Frontiers needs to address the quality of narrators they hire to perform these classics. Kudos to Audible for bringing these books to audio, but please, please do them justice by making a stronger effort to find experienced narrators. (hint: just because the protagonist is female does not automatically mean you need to hire a female narrator. Brick or Guidall would have done this justice without breaking a sweat)

Historia
Meet Jonathan Quinn: a freelance operative with a take-no-prisoners style and the heart of a loner. His job? Professional "cleaner". Nothing too violent, just disposing of bodies. But his latest assignment will change everything. The job seemed simple enough: investigating a suspicious case of arson. But when a dead body turns up, and Quinn's handlers at "the Office" turn strangely silent, he knows he's in over his head. With only a handful of clues, Quinn struggles to find out why someone wants him dead.

Not one of my favorites
Revisado: 07-25-07
I guess credit must be given since this is the writer's debut. Hopefully lessons have been learned and the next outing will be better. I found the book lacked a lot of character development, and plot credibility. I won't write a spoiler, but I will say there will be points when you wonder if the characters have even a shred of intelligence because they overlook the most obvious solutions.
Scott Brick does his usual excellent work as a narrator, and I was glad I hung on to the bitter end of the book if only to hear him attempt a monotone computer generated voice. It's simply not possible for him to remove all inflection. Made me chuckle for sure. In the end though, I'll be watching for the next outing by this author and hoping for improvement.
