Historia
Kilteegan Bridge, Ireland. 1975. Despite the best efforts to the older generation to maintain standards, short skirts, long hair and loud music are all the rage in Kilteegan Bridge. Emmet Kogan has set his sights on an education at the prestigious Stanford University in California, while his cousin Nellie also longs to get away, but for very different reasons. If she’s to escape too, it will mean wrapping herself in a web of lies, but it’s a price she’s willing to pay.

Love The Series
Revisado: 07-04-23
I happened upon this series and fell in love with the story and families.
I have but one regret ... that book 5 is NOT an audiobook. I pray it's in the works.

Historia
For eighteen year old Lena O'Sullivan, life is predictable and dull. A future of hard work, marriage to a local boy, and a family of her own one day is all she has to look forward to. People from her background know not to expect too much, but Lena yearns for something different. Malachy Berger was different, for him, the world is at his feet. An only child of a wealthy, if peculiar father, a large inheritance, a beautiful house and a fine education are his due. Nobody is in favour of Lena and Malachy’s friendship, but why not? What harm are they doing? Why is everyone so dead set against it?

Watch What You Wish For
Revisado: 03-18-23
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. When it ended, I just knew there had to be a sequel. My wish was granted; there are 4 more!! I laughed, I cried, and I talked back to the book. It was Ch. 27 that answered so many questions. I stopped at the end of this chapter because of something that brought me to tears. Something not relevant to the shocking storyline. It was the mention of this cat having kittens ... a litter of tortoise shells and black & white kittens. I had both a tortoise shell cat and a black & white cat. FREEDA & MEME. They both have gone on to kitty heaven, but I love and miss them so much. It was a nice remembrance.
Great job, Jean Grainger! The saga continues. acanthus hardly wait to start What Divides Us!

Historia
The Christmas party at the Sea Glass Inn is a long-held tradition, one the townspeople of Blackbird Beach consider the kick-off of the Christmas season. Until, of course, the inn closed, and the party stopped happening. Now Georgia Carpenter has decided it’s time to restart that tradition, even though the party is a massive undertaking and one that will influence how people feel about the inn for the rest of the year. With the help of her sister, Lilly, Georgia hopes to put on an event that will be merry and bright and spark new interest in the business.

Happily Ever After
Revisado: 03-03-23
Brava Maggie Miller. I thoroughly enjoyed the Blackbird Beach 8-book series. I went from being annoyed that Gulf Coast Cottage ended with me wanting more to looking forward to the rest of the series. I prayed for a happy ending, and you did not disappoint. The cast of characters felt like family.
I would like to read more about Georgia and the family, as well as The Life of Aunt Norma in her heyday
I usually just rate the books I read. This time, I was compelled to write a review.

But Lily has a bigger challenge than two sulking teens. The house comes with Mack Cooper, high school teacher and handsome longtime renter. The arrangement: just housemates. But Mack’s devoted attention to the kids starts to warm Lily’s resistant heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Normally, I just rate without a review, but this one I had to elaborate. Would love to see this story in a LIFETIME movie. Hated it to end. Is there a sequel?

Historia
Thirty years ago, Amelia Vaux Tanner and her husband built a house high on the bluffs, a cottage they named Chateau Laveau. For decades, “Ama” played host to American presidents, Wall Street titans, and cultural icons. But her favorite guests have always been her three “goddaughters”: Esperanza “Perry” Soto, a beautiful, talented Afro-Latina lawyer with Ama’s strong, yet guarded personality; Olivia Jones, a gifted Wall Street analyst with Ama’s brilliant, logical mind; and Billie Hayden, a gifted marine biologist and rule-breaker with Ama’s courageous free spirit.

Historia
It’s the summer of 2019, and Professor Pi Suleman is a Black man from Memphis with a lot to endure - not only as a Black man in Trump’s America but in his hard-earned career as an adjunct professor. Pi is constantly forced to bite his tongue in the face of one of his tenured colleague’s prejudices and microaggressions. At the same time, he’s being blackmailed by a powerful professor who threatens to claim he has assaulted her, when in fact the truth is just the opposite, trapping him in a he-said-she-said with a white woman that, in this society, Pi knows he will never win.

Historia
Lex Gracie doesn't want to think about her family. She doesn't want to think about growing up in her parents' House of Horrors. And she doesn't want to think about her identity as Girl A: the girl who escaped, the eldest sister who freed her older brother and four younger siblings. It's been easy enough to avoid her parents - her father never made it out of the House of Horrors he created, and her mother spent the rest of her life behind bars. But when her mother dies in prison and leaves Lex and her siblings the family home, she can't run from her past any longer.
