Historia
This Lovecraft classic is a must-have for every fan of classic terror. When a geologist leads an expedition to the Antarctic plateau, his aim is to find rock and plant specimens from deep within the continent. The barren landscape offers no evidence of any life form - until they stumble upon the ruins of a lost civilization. Strange fossils of creatures unknown to man lead the team deeper, where they find carved stones dating back millions of years. But it is their discovery of the terrifying city of the Old Ones that leads them to an encounter with an untold menace.

Felt like I was sitting in an archeology lecture
Revisado: 05-16-18
This book was dry, slow, extremely overly detailed, and as boring as watching paint dry. It literally felt like sitting through a four hour archeology lecture.

Super Adorkable
Revisado: 10-14-17
This is such a cute book, I just loved it. It's definitely a new take on a well known story but the author does a good job. There are some things that could be better but overall it's so, so, so cute they can be overlooked. I highly recommend!!

Could have been more scary
Revisado: 09-12-17
Overall I liked this book, it was pretty creepy. If it would have been narrated by someone different I think it could have been way more creepy. The narrator has a voice made more for western novels instead of horror.

Historia
In 1518, in a small town in Alsace, Frau Troffea began dancing and didn't stop. She danced until she was carried away six days later, and soon 34 more villagers joined her. Then more. In a month more than 400 people had been stricken by the mysterious dancing plague. In late-19th-century England an eccentric gentleman founded the No Nose Club in his gracious townhome - a social club for those who had lost their noses, and other body parts, to the plague of syphilis for which there was then no cure.

weak on science
Revisado: 09-11-17
The author is way too preachy and opinionated about the people from history she is writing about. Her science is weak. I caught a couple of scientific mistakes she made. In addition, the reader messed up pronunciation of Chuck Palahniuk's name. I wanted to like the book since the subject material was very interesting but it just fell too short. Hard to trust the information I'm hearing when I can pick out scientific mistakes that really should have been caught prior to publication!

I really struggled through this book, it is much longer than it needs to be. The only reason I made it was because of the narration.

great book!
Revisado: 05-03-17
This book is so interesting! The author does a great job of explaining the many aspects of the drug industries and ways that the government could use to"crack down" on use. I highly recommend listening to the book even if you have never taken an interest in the war on drugs.

Historia
As war moves ever closer, the sleepy English village of Crowmarsh Priors settles into a new sort of normal: Evacuees from London are billeted in local homes. The nightly German air raids become grimly mundane. Rationing curtails every comfort. Men leave to fight and die. And five women forge a bond of friendship that will change their lives forever in this engrossing novel of loyalty, loss, and love in the shadow of World War II.With the hardships of war intensifying every day, the women band together to defeat formidable enemies and find remarkable strength within themselves to help one another. It is a war-forged loyalty certain to endure years and distance. When four of the women return for a celebration fifty years later, their mission is not simply to commemorate or remember. They’ve returned to confront a traitor whose actions cost countless lives — and to avenge one of their own at last.

the narration made the book so much better
Revisado: 03-18-17
I really struggled with this book, I started listening to it and stopped many times before I finally completed it. If I was reading it I never would have finished it. I really believe the narration is what helped me to get through it. I found this book to be all over the place and just pointless. It tried telling the story of these women during the war but it was just boring. At one point one of the characters said it feels like the war is going on forever and I actually said out loud, "so does this book."

Good, but not as good as the first.
Revisado: 02-24-17
I didn't feel this book was as good as the first book, it definitely dragged on in parts. However, I didn't want the book to finish because it's a great story and the third book isn't out yet, so I knew once the book was over I would have to leave the world of Kvothe, which is a rather sad feeling.
