not to my taste

I got through book 1 and was excited for book 2, but I just can't stand the MC. Rich girl in a cyberpunk world who ran away from home (but not to hard). gets gifted Uber powerful relic and cybernetics and training to prepare against the incoming alien invasion. *spoiler from book one* uncle/crimelord/badass gets betrayed and killed along with a whole town. character immediately swears blood, death and vengeance. all well and good, but she just just keeps HARPING on it over and over and over. while fix review later, MCs lack of empathy and general give a fuck for collateral damage turned me off.

voice acting is excellent.

Brilliant story

I've followed this series since it started on RR. it is a fantastic story, with excellent elements and progression. the main character is believable, and the world(s) are well fleshed out. 10/10

Good Story but the Mc is IRRITATING

Ive been a fan of Shadowrun for going on 25 years now. This story is a good look into the world setting, and the characters are stylistically right out of the old ttrpg. That being said, the main character Sam Verner is too naïve and pigheaded to live. he has willful disbelief on an EPIC scale. Some of it can be excused, he IS raised as a Corpo drone in the literal heart of the Corperation, he is pretty much brainwashed with corpo propaganda, and while he does get SLIGHTLY better about it throughout the story, the level of Naivety and "i reject your reality and substitute my own" is ridiculous.

a true night city story

the first thing you need to know about Night City is there is no happy endings. this book does the world of Cyberpunk 2077 PROUD. if your a fan of the genre and games, both the ttrpg and classic novels from the 90s, or if you just joined via edgerunners or the 2077, this is an excellent story.

great story, terrible acoustics

House of the rising gun is the latest in the easy town novel series a cyberpunk noir action packed thriller. Typical hard bitten detective that had been removed from the force making a life as a private eye in a distopian world. The characters are well done the story is interesting and the setting is fantastic (especially as a Nola native). Now with that being said there is one major problem with this product; the voice recording for this is absolutely terrible. The voice actor has a decent range of voices I will give him that the main issue that I have is that his Voice does a weird total shift sometimes throughout the story it's very distracting it's almost binaural and I can actually physically feel it. it is incredibly uncomfortable and it happens multiple times throughout the story. It almost made me stop listening several times.

great with a few technical glitches

so I originally followed the story on Royal road and absolutely loved it there so at this point it's just me retredding the novels in audio book form.. Good story good performance the only issue that I have is the Jack racies occasionally slips up on his voices and some of the editing by audible could have been better there's been a couple instances where some sound effects that they usexit they used were missing and it was a little bit jarring outside of that this is phenomenal

cool concepr but poorly executed.

i really really REALLY wanted to like this because i like the conxwpt and the general world ans every other charactor EXCEPT for the MC is really interesting. UNFORTUNATELY the main character is completely and utterly stupid and unredeemable. i actually yelled at the audiobook several times due the sheer AUDACITY and utterly pig headed willful ignorance of the MC.MC also comes across as pretty much an incel. Absolutely 0 charactor growth through the entire 1st novel, and the begining of the 2nd was so cringy i just had to put it down.

im sorry. I really wanted to like this, but i just couldnt.

fantastic fantasy heist

great opening novel for a wonderful series. the characters are well written and have depth, the plot moves along at a good pace, and there are a few twists along the way. great read. The ONLY reason it wasn't 5 stars across the board was because the climax and finale got a little long.

The Wandering Inn web serial has been a longtime favorite of mine. the audiobook is no different. Andrea Parsnaeu does an AMAZING job at narration, bringing genuine depth and emotion to the roles she portrays.

worst. voice. ever.

let me preface this by saying I absolutely love jim c Hines' works in general, especially his libriomancer series. That being said, the narrator/ voice actor in this is terrible. Cannot do female voices AT ALL and his reading timbre and pattern is almost Shatnarian in delivery. I listed for about 15 minutes before returning the book.
