Historia
The perfect neighborhood can be the perfect place to hide… Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…

Barely OK story, some voices are too irritating.
Revisado: 04-20-25
I am trying to enjoy this story, but it is difficult to listen to because some of the voices are so irritating and annoying ! The story takes a while to become interesting, eventually it does pick up - but overall too much soap opera for me, barely OK story.

Historia
At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself. In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.

Interesting, good but could be better.
Revisado: 04-20-25
This was interesting, and different from typical in this genre. The opening lengthy section is especially good. It does get repetitive in the middle segments of the novel before delivering the final section. Also, I wish it had shorter chapter segments, to allow for better rest pauses. It is not a perfect novel but is quite good. The narrators do an excellent job here.

Breezy, personal take on a complex issue
Revisado: 04-10-25
This is a breezy, personal take on the history and more recent years situation in the middle east, and the perennial conflict there. In parts it is moving, heartfelt and engaging, but it does get a bit too subjective at times. I enjoyed the first half more than the latter sections. In parts I did tire listening to the author - despite the beautiful voice - there is some repetition of grating phrases, and felt like it could use a bit of editing and clean up. Still, a good effort here.

Historia
Behind every assassination, there is an anonymous mastermind - a plotter - working in the shadows. Plotters quietly dictate the moves of the city's most dangerous criminals, but their existence is little more than legend. Reseng is an assassin. Raised by a cantankerous killer named Old Raccoon in the crime headquarters "The Library", Reseng never questioned anything: where to go, who to kill, or why his home was filled with books that no one ever read. But one day, Reseng steps out of line on a job, toppling a set of carefully calibrated plans.

Fascinating, different, mostly quite effective.
Revisado: 04-03-25
This is not your typical thriller. It is fascinating, different and mostly quite effective storytelling. I enjoyed some of the poetic musings coming from the assassins and plotters. Some chapters are fantastic, some a bit less so. Very good narration helps carry it to a close.

Better than expected
Revisado: 03-26-25
This was better than expected, and for most of the running time was very good - the part towards the end was not a realistic development. Still a worthwhile listen, with nice narration.

Fabulous
Revisado: 03-23-25
This was really atmospheric and well written. I am surprised at some of the negative reviews here. Loved the narration too, especially Richard Armitage. The majority of the book is fabulous, but it does get a bit weaker story-wise towards the end, still I enjoyed it a lot.

Revisado: 03-17-25
This is great fun, but it is actually a duplicate section of a different longer Willeford book called The Shark Infested Custard. So do not buy both. Audible needs to make a note of this on the description.

Historia
In Patricia Highsmith's debut novel, we encounter Guy Haines and Charles Anthony Bruno, passengers on the same train. But while Guy is a successful architect in the midst of a divorce, Bruno turns out to be a sadistic psychopath who manipulates Guy into swapping murders with him. As Bruno carries out his twisted plan, Guy is trapped in Highsmith's perilous world - where, under the right circumstances, anybody is capable of murder.

Good, but Hitchcock's version is better
Revisado: 03-17-25
So I listened to this as a curiosity to see how it differed or was similar to the great Hitchcock movie of the same name. I understand the rights were secured for the story for cheap as this is Highsmith's first novel. It is a good book, with some clever story development and interesting characters, the second part of the book drags somewhat, whereas in the movie it takes off with great crescendo.

"What would it be like to see all as one?" Alan Watts asks. "We hear about attaining great states of consciousness. But the only way to have a real transformation is to stop thinking about it - and simply experience it." From the 1950s to the 1970s, this seminal teacher sparked the West's love for Eastern wisdom. Now, in these rare recorded gems, he inspires a new generation of inner explorers seeking deeper insights into meditation - its myriad forms, how they work, and what happens when we practice them.
