Fun premise, Enjoyable Listen

This was great book. I don’t listen to a ton of litrpg but when I do it’s performed by Nick Podehl. Haha! Solid story, good pacing. If you’re new to the litrpg genre this would be a good starting point. The rpg elements are light and infrequent.

Great story from beginning to end

This is the third book I’ve listened to by Bruno and probably my favorite. The story was familiar (description of Truman Show meets Ready Player One is accurate), but sufficiently different to be enjoyable. I loved the narration. Wheaton and McNamara did a superb performance. I’d definitely check out more works in this world if Bruno decides to revisit it.

Great Story

As a comic book kid and a fan of more mortal superheroes like Punisher and Batman, this was a great listen. RC Bray was spectacular as always, but the story was engaging as is. I’d definitely check out more works by Bruno in the future.

Great Addition to the Series

I enjoyed the first book in the series, but felt that the plot progression was slow. Fulcrum of Light definitely kicks it up a notch. I really enjoyed the pacing and story. Baldree does a fantastic job with narration. I look forward to the next installment.

So Good!

I was hopefully optimistic to try this book and it exceeded my expectations. Story, Characters, performance were all great. I look forward to other titles in the series and plan to check out the authors other works. Highly recommend.

Promising Start

This was a promising start to a series. The premise is familiar but engaging. The characters and tribute concept were interesting enough that I’d continue listening through the series. I thought Baldtree did a great job with narration. I’d definitely listen to other works he performed.

My only gripe was the pacing. Aaron is very good at capturing all of the details in a moment, but not every moment needs every detail. I suspect that the pacing was slower in this as the origin story and initial world building. Now that all the pieces are in place I look forward to book 2.

Terrific!

The description of the book made me think of a young adult version of Expeditionary Force. I don’t typically delve into YA novels, but the description and my trust of Sanderson made me give it a try. I absolutely loved it! The story was engaging, characters well developed, and Jackson does a superb job in narration. I can’t wait to start the next one!

Solid Fantasy Story, Good Value

This was a solid fantasy series, blending both familiar fantasy tropes with unique mythologies. I’d recommend this to someone who has listened to all of the top tier fantasy series such as Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Sanderson, etc. and is looking for a good fantasy series for a great value. Simon Vance has moments of greatness in his performance but at times I had trouble distinguishing the different characters. Overall good effort and I’d feel confident listening to other works by this author.

Top notch Performance, okay story

I purchased this during an audible sale based on all of the hype and promotion by audible. I like Joe Hill and I enjoy audio dramas and yet I was hesitant to jump on this title. From a production standpoint this is top notch. Music heightens the emotional moments and voices were distinct enough to figure out what was going on. The story was good, but not as good as I expected based on the hype. I probably would listen to nos4a2 again before listening to this again.

Enjoyable but difficult to follow

I enjoy a good zombie story. This had the unique perspective of giving a global view, but because of that I had a hard time following characters. By the end of the 3rd book there were some characters that I had finally identified enough to want to hear more, but I probably wouldn’t spend a credit on future titles. RC Bray is terrific as always.
