I'm glad I didn't give up on this audio book. As an ex-JW, some the the detail was worthwhile and some was unnecessary. If you're unfamiliar with this high control organization, the detail may help your understanding of just how intrusive and un-Christian the JWs are. Their website proclaims, "We do our best to imitate Jesus Christ and are proud to be called Christians." Ask a disfellowshipped ex-JW who has been shunned (or worse) and you'll get a more clear picture of the reality of the true nature of this cult.

Personally I was baptized at 11. and have been shunned by my family for more than 40 years - a life sentence for a decision I made as a child.

Love, compassion, acceptance, peace and grace are what defined Christ's ministry. This sadly misguided group displays none of these characteristics and I applaud Raymond Franz for having the courage to leave the organization and write about his experience.

An excellent cautionary tale for anyone considering membership with the JWs.
