Revisado: 12-21-15
I enjoy this author, and the series. I liked the Chapters that were written from the point of view of Devereax's prospective beaus.
This reader captures Devereax's voice perfectly. And I did not solve the mystery before it was revealed!

Historia
When the elderly father of a top Pakistani cricketer playing in the multi-million-dollar Indian Premier League dies during a post-match dinner, it’s not a simple case of Delhi Belly. His butter chicken has been poisoned. To solve the case, Puri must penetrate the region’s organized crime, following a trail that leads deep into Pakistan - the country in which many members of the P.I.’s family were massacred during the 1947 partition of India. The last piece of the puzzle, however, turns up closer to home when Puri learns of the one person who can identify the killer. Unfortunately it is the one woman in the world with whom he has sworn never to work: his Mummy-ji.

I love Vish Puri mysteries the most!!!!!
Revisado: 04-18-13
What did you love best about The Case of the Deadly Butter Chicken?
I am a Vish Puri fan, and I love this book especially because his "Mummy" plays a big role in solving the mystery, or should I say mysteries...Tarquin Hall is such a good writer-his books are so descriptive, you feel you are experiencing everything with his rich, well-developed characters.
What did you like best about this story?
Vish Puri's Mummy-ji is always a favorite character, and she reveals a lot of her past. She was a bold young woman, helping other women during the partition times of the late 1940's. I'll say no more, so as not to give anything away, but I love the fact that she has such a strong story line in The Case of the Deadly Butter Chicken.
Which scene was your favorite?
I have many favorite scenes in this book; however, I must say that when Vish is left to read his mother's diary, this is my favorite part.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I so thoroughly enjoyed this book! While there are serious topics of murder, a look into the underworld of gambling in India, and the plight of young women, both Hindu and Muslim, in the time of the partition, not to mention Vish Puri's exploration of his feelings as an Indian going to Pakistan, Tarquin Hall provides us with some comic relief in the telling of the "moustache mystery" that Vish has been hired to solve, and the ever present weight issue that Vish's wife seeks to address.
Any additional comments?
Please don't stop bringing us Vish Puri mysteries!-That's my comment to the author and to Audible. And the reader is quite excellent, too!

Another Good Murder Mystery from Denise Swanson
Revisado: 12-11-12
What did you love best about Little Shop of Homicide?
I like the mystery setting of the small midwestern town; much like Swanson's Scumble River series, I like the setting and the characters-especially single gal Devereaux, who lives with her quirky grandmother, and owns the local dime store.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Little Shop of Homicide?
Don't tune out after the murder is "solved"-the ending is a doozy!
Which character – as performed by Maia Guest – was your favorite?
Devereaux will be every reader's favorite character-she is trying to start her life again in her home town after her stint working for a crooked investment backer in the city. And she is making a go of it, even with family baggage that doesn't easily go away in a small town. She really finds herself in a pickle, and has to rally all of her resources to solve the mystery of who killed her ex-boyfriend's fiancee!

I love a Scumble River Mystery
Revisado: 12-07-12
What made the experience of listening to Murder of a Botoxed Blonde the most enjoyable?
I really like the reader; she is a fitting voice for Skye, the main character. The plot is a good one, and Denise Swanson's writing is clever.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Skye, the protagonist. I think most Scumble River readers will agree, as we like to follow her escapades!
Which character – as performed by Christine Leto – was your favorite?
Christine Leto IS Skye's voice, as far as I am concerned. Even when I read the Scumble River books that are not on audiotape, I "hear" Christine Leto
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I really enjoyed this twists and turns at the spa. What a great setting!
Any additional comments?
I'd love to have all of the Scumble River books on audiotape! As they are not all available, that is my suggestion! They have an audience.

Fun, Charming Book-A Delight to Listen To
Revisado: 09-03-12
What made the experience of listening to The Tea House on Mulberry Street the most enjoyable?
I loved the reader with the lilting Irish accents. It added so much to the story of these rich characters in Ireland. It is a very descriptive book, and the reader just takes you right there to the streets of Ireland.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the characters-so divergent. I loved the vehicle of the tea room to bring them together. I always love stories about the richness of day to day living, and the power of the individual to make meaningful changes.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the whole story line of Sophie, the overweight and overworked woman who finds out her husband is having an affair. She evolved with such dignity and such creativity! I don't want to give away the details of my favorite scene and be a spoiler!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wanted to listen all in one setting, but I was not able to. This is a book you can't wait to get back to!

Historia
Miss Pettigrew is a down-on-her-luck, middle-aged governess sent by her employment agency to work for a nightclub singer rather than a household of unruly children. Over a period of 24 hours, as she becomes caught up in the life of Delysia LaFloss, her own life is changed - forever. This charming, funny, light-hearted 1938 novel was a bestseller on its first appearance. Read by Academy Award winning actress Frances McDormand, who stars in the 2008 film as Miss Pettigrew.

So Satisfying!
Revisado: 06-23-12
Would you listen to Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day again? Why?
I would listen to this book again, because it is a charming story read delightfully! It was so engaging, I had to plug my ipod into my car stereo-I couldn't put it down! (I can't wait to follow up by seeing the film; I believe the reader is in the 2007 film of the same name!)
What was one of the most memorable moments of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day?
It was splendid to her Ms. Pettigrew's thoughts as she encounters new situations for the first time at age 40-nightclubs, cocktails...No film could capture that!
Which scene was your favorite?
The last chapter was my favorite; it had a fairy-tale, happy ending quality, without being overly sentimental or sappy.
Who was the most memorable character of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and why?
I will never forget Miss Pettigrew! She embodies being open to new experience while being true to yourself.
Any additional comments?
I am a 49 year old woman who works hard each day, and Miss Pettigrew appealed to me as a 40 year old character who steps out of herself, decides to be open-minded, make new friends, and go where life leads her (taking her common sense with her). That is a pleasurable thought!
