Historia
When an old archeologist friend gives Mary Russell a curled scrap of papyrus, Mary is startled to see that it is covered with Greek symbols. The writing may be a letter from an unknown - and female - apostle. Soon the old friend has been murdered, the Holmes' cottage has been ransacked, and Mary is faced with a particularly dangerous and painful investigation.

Thoroughly enjoyable
Revisado: 02-28-08
Like others in this series, the author and reader offer tale and listening experience that draws you in and keeps you there. King's descriptions and development of the story team well with characters that seem real. My only criticism is that Ms. Sterlin's Holmes doesn't seem to quite hit the mark but, that might just be from watching too much Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett (smile). I heartily recommend the series. Now that more are available, try to follow the sequence if you can, starting with the Bee Keeper's Apprentice. You'll have many hours of listening enjoyment.

Savor one of the most clever of Christie's suspenseful classics. An American businessman is stabbed to death aboard a luxury train, the Orient Express, snowbound in the middle of Europe. Nothing escapes the eagle eye and quick intelligence of the great Hercule Poirot, and clues abound. Sorting through a dozen perfectly respectable passengers, all suspects, Poirot is tenacious in his pursuit of the truth.

Historia
As a young medical student at Edinburgh, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle took classes with the remarkable Dr. Joseph Bell in forensic medicine. Dr. Bell exhibited many of the characteristics that Doyle would later synthesize into the personage of Sherlock Holmes: complete faith in human reason, meticulous powers of observation, and encyclopedic knowledge of the activities and methods of the criminal classes.

Revisado: 08-25-06
The Patient's Eyes is a fine work. Good story line, interesting characters and a solid reader. While the description of the scenes might not compare to a P.D. James, the author really ties the reader to the main character, causing the reader to truly feel the character's emotions. A very enjoyable listen.

No, the "Moonstone" isn't a celestial relic, it's a gigantic yellow diamond of unearthly beauty that was given to Rachel Verinder as a present on her 18th birthday - and stolen that very night! Betteredge, one of the most beloved butlers in English literature, is the focus of this seminal detective novel, which examines how one family's life is turned upside-down by the theft. And find out why the answers to all of life's problems can be found in the pages of Robinson Crusoe.

I selected this title by chance and was so glad I did. It was excellent, unique, wonderful narration. The only reason it's not a 5 is because I think it ended up being a little longer than it needed to be.

Another solid effort
Revisado: 01-16-06
There are few authors that describe a scene like James. You can almost taste the salt spray and smell the ocean breeze. I enjoyed the plot and especially the characters. While I don't find it to be "edge of the seat" it drew me in and held me to the end. Also, I love Charles Keating as the reader, especially over the other gentlemen who is on other James titles. Defintely a solid 4+.

Simon Brett has penned another enjoyable story, albeit a little predictable. Having listened to all of the "Feathering" novels available on Audible, it's not the best place to start but, can stand on its own.

Revisado: 12-17-05
Ms. King provides us with another wonderful work Rich and engaging, it was a mst successful sequel to the Bee Keeper's Apprentice. The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is the reader. Although Ms. Sterlin does a master full job with most of the characters, her Sherlock Holmes role misses the mark and takes a little bit away from an otherwise excellent performance. It is, I think, her interpretation of Holmes that causes this and while Her Mary Russell is beyond reproach, her Holmes can be a distraction. A minor flaw in a most enjoyable experience

Great book but, the reader...
Revisado: 12-06-05
I was very pleasantly surprised by Ms. King's work. I've read, listened and watched Sherlock Holmes for years and this has been a most excellent story. It kept my interest and kept me in the car after I reached home on more than one occasion. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 is the reader. Ms. Sterling does a fine job on all characters, save Holmes. Maybe I've just heard too much Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett over the years but, I found Ms. Sterling's Holmes to be a distraction.

A classic that still finds relevance today
Revisado: 07-03-05
One might say that I have a bias as I am a Christian but, I'm pretty critical. I certainly don't have a problem noting my objections or dislikes for any title. In a work such as this, I look for the relevance across the ages, the flow of the story (an important part given the language and references from 300 years ago)and the quality of the narration. The Pilgrim's Progress scores high on all three points. I very much enjoyed the title, even more so the second time through.
