Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Long, but worth it!
Revisado: 06-19-15
The performance is excellent. The characters were very well portrayed, even with the complexity of all of them. The story is fantastic; very well written.

Historia
Though they have the vote and the Pill and haven't been burned as witches since 1727, life isn't exactly a stroll down the catwalk for modern women. They are beset by uncertainties and questions: Why are they supposed to get Brazilians? Why do bras hurt? Why the incessant talk about babies? And do men secretly hate them? Caitlin Moran interweaves provocative observations on women's lives with laugh-out-loud funny scenes from her own, from adolescence to her development as a writer, wife, and mother.

A Fantastic Modern Feminist Perspective
Revisado: 03-04-15
Way too relate-able. Great new perspective on things that I had never thought about. The reader's accent made it a little difficult to understand sometimes, and sometimes it was just downright annoying. But the content is fantastic.

Hysterical. As usual
Revisado: 02-24-15
If you've read and enjoyed Chelsea's other books, than you'd also like this. Hysterical reaction to a breakup. You can tell she's getting older and her interests are changing, but she's still amazing.

Farm animals have been disappearing from our fields as the production of food has become a global industry. We no longer know for certain what is entering the food chain and what we are eating - as the UK horsemeat scandal demonstrated. We are reaching a tipping point as the farming revolution threatens our countryside, health, and the quality of our food wherever we live in the world.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Historia
"You'll change your mind." That's what everyone says to Jen Kirkman - and countless women like her - when she confesses she doesn't plan to have children. But you know what? It's hard enough to be an adult. You have to dress yourself and pay bills and remember to buy birthday gifts. You have to drive and get annual physicals and tip for good service. Some adults take on the added burden of caring for a tiny human being with no language skills or bladder control.

Revisado: 10-27-14
Jen Kirkman has put into words what I've been thinking for years. She opened up her heart and life to true vulnerability. Although I may disagree with some of what she says, you can't help but respect the woman's decisions and feelings. Very well written.

I like memiors, but not this one.
Revisado: 10-27-14
This memoir was simply a diary of a woman's new year's resolution. Very little struck me as profound or insightful. Maybe better to read as a hard copy, maybe some highlighting of helpful tips, but a look into her life was just boring to me. Very, very, boring. I kept waiting for it to get good or juicy, but nothing. Some nice tips, but that's it.
