Historia
Will Johnnie Veal—convicted of the murder of two police officers in 1970—be granted parole after 50 years in prison? How can he convince the parole board he’s reformed when he insists he’s innocent? I really enjoyed the focus on rehabilitation and second chances. Jonny’s focus on self rehabilitation was incredible! He was self motivated to improve himself, he is an amazing human being, I wish him the best life has to offer!

Flash Back
Revisado: 03-23-24
Listing to this story brought back a flash back. I was in high school and living in Madison Heights, Mi. I was taken from my mother and stepdad,in Detroit, for every kind of abuse imaginable and sent to live with my dad in Madison Heights. I had no idea about Caledonian men or the danger they imposed. I found myself in the back seat with a Caledonian teenage boy with his cousin driving. We ended up in the way back parking lot of the Oakland Mall. Nothing happened and I don’t even remember how I got home safely, but I do remember feeling the fear that I had escaped a dangerous situation. I still feel the fear thinking about it now.
Thank you for telling your story and the sacrifice you made to write it!

Robot Voice
Revisado: 03-10-24
I loved the story, I wouldn’t have been able to listen to the whole book if the story wasn’t as good as it was. I was disappointed in the narration. The dull robot voice was great for Nora. But why did it have to be robotic for all of the characters?

Historia
What if emotional abuse is so hidden that its effects remain unchallenged for decades, masquerading as personal failings? Believing Me is an emotionally gripping memoir that gives language to the hidden and ineffable nature of childhood trauma and how it can imprint on a person, resulting in fractured self-esteem, addictions, perfectionism, and a string of abusive relationships.

Thank you for your voice!!!
Revisado: 03-02-23
Ingrid thank you for your voice! My childhood was my siblings and I constantly walking on egg shells. Your story truly spoke to my heart. I have been in therapy on and off my entire life (I’m 47). I’ve definitely come to realize that my healing from my abusive stepfather and my mother who never protected me is a lifetime project.
You gave me the words and definitions that I needed and I intend on doing some more work on myself.
Thank you Ingrid!
