Historia
Born from Bukowski's columns, the LA underground press of the 1960s, Bukowski defined his early alter ego, Hank Chinaski, as a self-described dirty old man who eyes his defeatist attitude about himself with his clarity to see humor and holiness in others. Addictive and instructive listening, Bukowski delivers the humanity and intelligence of all the unseen. Filled with his usual obsessions - sex, booze, gambling - Notes features Bukowski's offbeat insights into politics and literature, and his tortured, violent relationships.

Very funny and gritty, this is a collection of short pieces, kind of like short stories or vignettes

Historia
Nic Sheff was drunk for the first time at age 11. In the years that followed, he would regularly smoke pot, do cocaine and ecstasy, and develop addictions to crystal meth and heroin. Even so, he felt like he would always be able to quit and put his life together whenever he needed to. It took a violent relapse one summer in California to convince him otherwise.

In this fourth volume, Roland, Eddie, Susannah, and Jake survive Blaine the Mono's final crash, only to find themselves stranded in an alternate version of Topeka, Kansas, one that has been ravaged by the superflu virus. Historia
Hunger of Memory is the story of Mexican-American Richard Rodriguez, who begins his schooling in Sacramento, California, knowing just 50 words of English, and concludes his university studies in the stately quiet of the reading room of the British Museum. Here is the poignant journey of a "minority student" who pays the cost of his social assimilation and academic success with a painful alienation - from his past, his parents, his culture - and so describes the high price of "making it" in middle-class America.

Historia
Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Great listen
Revisado: 09-11-23
This is a bleak western, but a complete masterpiece. Very well written and there are some passages in Spanish that is not translated, which is way Cormac writes . WARNING-there is bad language, derogatory terms are used freely throughout the book, if those words trigger you, you have been warned. I understand that that is the way people spoke back then, but dang it does sound ugly if you listen to the way they spoke, authentic and realism that is harsh, but a true bonafide western. Great book.

Great book, I loved this book, very intriguing and interesting in the topics that are written. I found out these characters come out in his other books and I really like his characterization and how involved they get in the story.

Historia
This was no ordinary war. This was a war to make the world safe for democracy. And if democracy was made safe, then nothing else mattered - not the millions of dead bodies, nor the thousands of ruined lives. This is no ordinary novel. This is the story of a young American soldier terribly maimed in World War I - he "survives" armless, legless, and faceless, but with his mind intact.

Amazing
Revisado: 06-06-23
This was a great novel. Told in a great way, I felt the reader’s emotion. This book was jaw opening awe inspiring. I see why it’s a anti war novel, it was written before ww2 but it seems to fit any war, this story is heartbreaking but he tells the truth that most people do not want to admit. We humans are made to love, not kill each other. I’m in awe of this great, great book.
