Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Cultural Kaleidoscope
Revisado: 06-22-24
What I most appreciated was the way the story blended peeks into multiple cultures during a time when those who today hardly see themselves as such knew that they were immigrants in the land of unequal opportunity. The voice performance handled each dialect with careful respect.

Historia
In many ways, we’re more comfortable than ever before. But could our sheltered, temperature-controlled, overfed, underchallenged lives actually be the leading cause of many our most urgent physical and mental health issues? In this gripping investigation, award-winning journalist Michael Easter seeks out off-the-grid visionaries, disruptive genius researchers, and mind-body conditioning trailblazers who are unlocking the life-enhancing secrets of a counterintuitive solution: discomfort.

A Challenge to Us All
Revisado: 11-16-23
This title sat in my queue for a little bit until I started to wonder why our comfortable, “advanced” way of life tends to end uncomfortably. I found a lot of the findings worth looking into, yet not preachy. I really appreciated the story that wove throughout which described something most us would never experience.

The Bible is the written Word of God, and it is treasured by many. But it is also an ancient book about people and cultures very different than us. Thus, while we know we should read it, many of us have a hard time understanding the Bible.

Great Study Augmentation
Revisado: 01-20-23
A good listen and reference to R.C. Sproul’s academic approach to theology. Great for taking a casual reader of scripture to a student of the Word of God.

Blueprint for Artists
Revisado: 07-20-21
I thoroughly enjoyed the format and delivery of this audiobook. I thought Tariq bravely and boldly presented a concise autobiography x sketchbook that deepens my appreciation of his art. This IMHO should be a blueprint for many artists. Beings we want to hear more from, beyond their primary product. And we want to hear it from their hearts, not filtered thru a reporter’s pen. Great listen that I’ll pass on to my many friends who share my love for the Legendary Roots Crew.

A Memoir/Word-Music Set/Audiobook for Right Now
Revisado: 08-28-20
It’s refreshing and edifying to hear one of your favorite artists drop something simultaneously personal and applicable to all of us. Whether you approach this as a fan or just curious, listen to the way this ‘meal’ is prepared and served. Expertly performed, I felt that I was constantly carried from the front row of a concert to a window seat in a cafe to a random seat in a lecture hall.
This is a great title for anyone wanting to know more about the artist Common, the importance of hip-hop, and brilliance of humanity. Thanks Audible!

Historia
When you think of a Christian pastor, you probably don't envision a tattooed 30-something who wears a motorcycle jacket, listens to hip-hop music, references The Walking Dead and Black Lives Matter in his sermons, and every Sunday draws a standing-room only crowd to a venue normally used for rock concerts - in godless New York City, no less. But then you clearly have never met Carl Lentz. As head pastor of the first United States branch of global megachurch Hillsong, the former college basketball player is on a mission to make Christianity accessible in the 21st century.

Not sermon nor motivational speech
Revisado: 12-03-19
Not a sermon, not a motivational speech. No, this was a open-hearted, honest conversation with friend I haven’t met. I love the fact that many chapters, on their own, can be put on replay. Thank you Carl Lentz for being brave and obedient, open and compassionate in producing this timely work. I gave this a firewall 5-star rating because the flow and format was perfect for this kind of material. It makes me want the hardcopy on my shelf. Well done!

Historia
Are you tired of feeling f*cked up? If you are, Gary John Bishop has the answer. In this straightforward handbook, he gives you the tools and advice you need to demolish the slag weighing you down and become the truly unf--ked version of yourself. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

Impressive Stuff
Revisado: 06-11-19
When Gary said this won’t be like most of the positive thinking stuff out there, I thought, “What’s wrong with that?” Throughout this audiobook, I was reminded that we tend to build empty lives based on thoughts and words, but no action. I get it now. Thanks, Gary...especially for the last two chapters.
