Totally unlikable main

I knew this was tailored more for women but it borders on romance novel gone wrong. Nowhere is the main character more unbelievable than when she is headstrong, science minded, and driven only to become weak kneed and gushing in the arms of a vampire. So much could be so good and I'd even tolerate the romance but this doesn't even try. I am supremely disappointed and returning this book.

The book didn't end...it just stopped. It was liking getting a section of the main characters life without an ending.

Title says it all. Nothing new or original in the story, even the GI Jane character herself is predictable. I actually don't blame the author, I blame Amazon for searching it out and not making a potentially interesting plot line into something noteworthy.

Great fantasy fiction without typical Amazon sex

trash. The characters behave like regular people in extraordinary circumstances without anyone being perfectly good or bad. They make choices. They have consequences. And they grow as individuals in the process.

Also really appreciate that the 16 year old isn't angstie or ultra special, just different, with a history he's not ashamed of, and a person who took a chance. I liked the dragon being blind as a plus and a trouble as life often is. Also really liked how the author represented the various rejections all along while allowing even the "rejectors" to grow past their bias without everyone sitting down for a happy ending. And it was a good ending - the book stands alone and doest feel like a money grab with meaningless sequels. I'll be looking for the rest of the books, though!

The world is complex enough to be interesting and yet not so complex as to be overwhelming or boring or meandering. The mechanics of the magic is sufficient without trying to make it scientific- its fiction after all. A 12-18 year old could easily read this and identify with the main characters without feeling like they were reading Children's literature either.

And no hidden agendas, no political rhetoric disguised as plot line, just a good storyline with some great action scenes that have purpose.

I'm VERY surprised at Amazon for carrying this and I'm very thankful to have found it. Thank you!

Incomplete ending

Trilogy didn't need another installation

Unless it was going to be something new. Love this author but I wasn't taken with this new story line after listening to the whole book.

Weird way to end it

Really looked forward to how this series a going to wrap up and despite it being unexpected it did start to feel drawn out for no reason only to end the way it did. Still, the trilogy was worth it and I would recommend it and Sanderson any day of the week.

Soft porn writing, don't wast your time

Looking for some good new fantasy, I found this and based on the plot description thought it would be good. Little did I know it was one lesbian sex scene after another, littered with modern day swear words, even sex poetry just in case I missed the fact the characters were lovers - none of which actually furthers the plot or explains the flashback. It's just female fairies having sex or getting drunk.
This author has real talent and it's unfortunate that the editors decided the book needed gratuitous sex to make the writing and plot compelling. It doesn't. I'm not likely to read another from this author and I'm extremely disappointed in Audible for giving it away as a fantasy book when it's basically literotica with a fantasy theme.
This isn't what I signed up for and I feel lied to as a reader. I wasted over an our of my life waiting for the real story to begin. It never did, I just suffered through lesbian sex and caddy drinking scenes without a compelling reason.

True to form

This book series stays true to the form of the game gene while still being good writing. The reader is consistent and believable as all the characters, too. This book ended before I expected, though. An easy listen with the other books.
