Historia
A deep kiss and a single rule. Like most women in dead-end relationships, Holly Markham was used to finding substitutes for love. But throwing herself into the arms of a leather-clad stranger was never on her list. When Holly's best friend Tori takes her to a dance for lesbians only, she realizes that Tori is gently trying to push her out of the closet. While it was true that Holly had been trying to come to terms with her growing attraction toward women, no one expected Holly to take one look at the mysterious Reyna and fall hopelessly in lust.

i loved the characters how their separate predicaments helped bring them togeter (and, as usual in these stories, kept them apart.)
i love the sex scenes which were not over the top and used sparingly.
i love the Australian connection.
i REALLY loved the impeccable narration by Angela Dore.

Historia
The Lily and the Crown is a lesbian scifi romance about daring to risk your heart with someone you shouldn’t. Ariana “Ari” Geiker lives an isolated life on an imperial space station commanded by her father. Her nameless slave is watchful, intelligent, dangerous, and sexy, and seems to know an awful lot about tactics, star charts, and the dread, marauding pirate queen, Mir. What happens when the slave also reveals an expertise in seduction to her innocent mistress?

Way too rapey for my likes.
Revisado: 02-25-22
In an absolutely flawless performance by Angela Dawe, this is a cute little story of a quirkey, shy, reclusive, young woman and her abuser, the slave her Father gave her (she objects to slavery).
Areola quickly shows she has fallen into infatuation with Assistant (she cannot bring herself to call her Slave) who then, one night when Ari is distraught about something, comes into her room and forces her to have sex with no prelude other than a gory story about pirate violence. The only defence to this is that she is clearly the Pirate Queen they keep mentioning that no one has seen. she should have been armed with Checkov's gun.
Assistant then sets out, through repeated rapes, to derpen her manipulative control over Ari.
If it had not been for the performance by Angela Dawe I would have stopped listening after the first rape. She, and a science fiction romance are the reasons I bought it. Angela did not disappoint. She never does.
The fact that I had tumbled to the real identity of Assistant as the pirate queen allowed me to reason that her character would do that. Perhaps Roslyn Sinclare was working with sad old tropes of abusive male lovers wooing over their conquests in hetero romances but these days, and in lesbian circles, we expect our love to not come fro. coersive rape.

As shiny as if the show was never cancelled.
Revisado: 08-21-20
My only misgiving about this book is that it makes me miss the series more.
The story is not like episodes of the show but that is due to the nature of the plot device and foreshadows the movie well.
The narrator/performer/reader reminded me of Richard Castle's book readings and thus like Nathan and therefore Mal was telling this story.
Good Book.

Quite Heteronormative For A Lesbian Novel.
Revisado: 08-16-20
Having the sex scenes involve eagerly sucking her penis was not a good thing. The rest of the book was good and felt like listening to an episode of 'Crown' but the book felt like a standard romance novel with the king, George, having a change in personal pronouns. This was saved by the inclusion of references to 'the first gay queen' and the cousin's use of pervert (though their real reason was heredity). This was all overlookable for the 'Crown Experience.
The narrator's voice was initially annoying (as they often start out) but got better as the book progressed. I was dissapointed that the second book (that I did not finish) used a different performer of lesser quality.
The sex scenes were irritating not just for their heteronormative description but more for constant use of the term 'her sex' to refer to her female parts when there are many safe nonvulgar ways to describe a mound or bush or vulva. The scifi use of intellifles was cute but having Bea eagerly sucking George's penis was really annoying.

Historia
After quitting the high-stakes world of finance, Lennox King is content with keeping her life simple. As the new director of a hospice charity, she uses a strict business approach to help the charity grow and prosper. When Rosa comes to work at the charity under orders from the Queen Consort, babysitting a spoiled princess is definitely not on Lennox's agenda. But when passion flares between them, will Lennox's past stop their relationship in its tracks, or will a twist of fate bring a new future that neither was expecting?

Very heteronormative lesbian fiction.
Revisado: 08-16-20
It reads like a normal romance novel with the man's personal pronoun changed to she and her. They do not even get renamed with a feminine name. The damsel wears cute little outfits while he always wears suits or masculine clothes. The damsel princess ogled the dom for their musculature and the description could be ripped straight from any male romance lead. Now I know plenty of butch lesbians. This did NOT feel like that. I feel safe in saying they do not wear 'aftershave'. It was after the second occurrence of this that I stopped listening. I do not take this lightly. I have several hundred audible books in my library and have stopped listening to 3. (Pacific Vortex and something else) I loved the first book. It was like listening to an episode of Crown. This book lacks that completely. That book also was tres hetro. the use of an inteliflesh 'strap on' was annoyingly straight. Yes, I know lesbians who use them but they do not eagerly suck them to felate their girlfriend. This is not a lesbian thing.
I was waiting to see how this book dealt with sex scenes but the repeated aftershave references killed it.
The performer also reads spoken text well but the descriptive passages were too fast and flat like a robot or a student in my class.

Historia
Milligan and the Samurai Rebels is a humorous historical novel set in the Japan of the 1860s. The Shogun has been forced by the threat of Western firepower to re-open Japan to the outside world, while samurai outraged at this decision are scheming to topple the Shogunate and re-establish Imperial rule. In parallel to this struggle, Britain and France are fighting by every means except open warfare to establish themselves as the leading influence on the government of Japan and secure the accompanying trading privileges.

i really enjoyed the story. The characterisation was good.
Nsrration was excellent and in keeping with the character of the protagonist.
My only dissapointments were
- the pronunciation of Japanese words was? at first quite in keeping with the protagonists low level of language skill. i wish the pronunciation had improved as his skill improved.
- the story suddenly ended with an unlooked for surprise event while there were many historical events to continue with.

i mean i did not stop at the beginning but i only may read the sequals.
the pronunciation of japanese words really grated on me.
i thought it was going to be a cool samurai story then it turned into harrypotter and the bully contest at school but in aydoh...
it redeamed itself by dropping the school bully plot.
