Historia
Daniel leads a rich life and considers himself to be a mostly lucky guy - despite the fact that he’s suffered from a debilitating disease since he was a small child, one that has left him unable to speak or to move without a wheelchair. Largely confined to his home, Daniel spends the hours he’s not online communicating with irate air travelers observing his neighborhood from his front porch. One young woman passes by so frequently that spotting her out the window has almost become part of his daily routine. Until the day he’s almost sure he sees her being kidnapped.

Incredibly stupid book
Revisado: 01-08-22
Don’t be fooled by the raving reviews, this is utter nonsense. The only positive things I can say are that 1) the incel vibe was appropriately creepy, and 2) they use Hangouts.

Historia
A teenage girl awakens to find herself trapped in a coffin. She has no idea who she is, where she is, or how she got there. Fighting her way free brings little relief - she discovers only a room lined with caskets and a handful of equally mystified survivors. Beyond their room lies a corridor filled with bones and dust but no people and no answers. She knows only one thing about herself - her name, M. Savage, which was engraved on the foot of her coffin. She finds herself in charge. She is not the biggest among them or the boldest, but for some reason the others trust her.

Extremely tiring narrator and awful writing
Revisado: 07-16-21
This was pure torture to listen to. The narrator is SO EXCITED ALL THE TIME. The urgency in her voice is the same when she’s struggling for her life and when she describes someone’s eye color. It was exhausting. And the writing did not make up for it. I am so, so tired of hearing of her leadership and her duty and whatever. It’s been like one day. Get over yourself.
I can’t believe where all the raving reviews for this book come from.

Historia
Professor Theo Cray is trained to see patterns where others see chaos. So when mutilated bodies found deep in the Montana woods leave the cops searching blindly for clues, Theo sees something they missed. Something unnatural. Something only he can stop. As a computational biologist, Theo is more familiar with digital code and microbes than the dark arts of forensic sleuthing.

Ok story but horrible narrator
Revisado: 05-03-18
The book itself was good entertainment, but the audiobook narrator was awful! His over-dramatizing made all the parts that were supposed to be suspenseful ridiculous, and honestly, did he have to imitate the gunfire? That was cringeworthy to say the least. (And did the author really have to include it?) All the resistance the MC met also felt forced and like a cheap trick to engage the reader.

Historia
The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Too quirky for me
Revisado: 11-27-16
There's nothing actually wrong with this book, for me it just felt too quirky and too witty (without being witty). Perhaps I would have liked it at 13, but not at 30.

Embarrassing
Revisado: 11-26-16
What would have made L'empire des loups better?
Credibility and less ridiculous narrators.
Has L'empire des loups turned you off from other books in this genre?
Definitely.
How could the performance have been better?
The sound effects were sometimes rather ridiculous, and the book could have done without them.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from L'empire des loups?
All the drama and killing. None of it worked.
Any additional comments?
This really reads like a horrible action movie.

Historia
Moments after Lisbeth is born, she’s taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie, a young mother separated from her own infant son in order to care for her tiny charge. Thus begins an intense relationship that will shape both of their lives for decades to come. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant, slave-owning father.

A very engaging read, after the 1st half I couldn't stop listening. Very slow speech, so 2xspeed sounds perfectly normal. Highly recommended.

Historia
Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth who, in the middle of class, takes a sudden spin to a different era! Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon, the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential.

Interesting mix.

Play this at double speed if you want a normal speech rhythm! Very interesting course, but a lot of the material is a word by word repetition of what Armstrong talks about in her Great Minds of the Medieval World course...
