Historia
Doom Guy: Life in First Person is the long-awaited autobiography of gaming’s original rock star and the cocreator of DOOM, Quake, and Wolfenstein—some of the most recognizable and important titles in video game history. Credited with the invention of the first-person shooter, a genre that continues to dominate the market today, he is gaming royalty. Told in remarkable detail, a byproduct of his hyperthymesia, Romero recounts his storied career.

Much more than I even expected
Revisado: 08-29-24
I went into this figuring it might be interesting, but I didn’t anticipate how glued I would be. John does an amazing job telling his story, keeping it entertaining, and is extremely well spoken. It was a great listen, and I had already had high expectations.

59% of a great book
Revisado: 03-14-21
Will does a great job reading as always. And Ernest does a believable job bringing his characters to life and giving us that same sense of nostalgia for a second round. As the story plays out though much of it seems to be grasping at straws to keep the references strong. This leads to a rushed final third that seems like the ending was completed just to have the book finished and less of a truly planned out story.
Still worth the read but I miss the magic of the original.

Reader does the best with a slow story
Revisado: 08-22-20
I kept waiting for the story to start but 3/4th if the way trough it just doesn’t. He bulk of the story is a aimless wandering main character and supporting characters with so much room for development that never goes anywhere. I think the concept of the asteroid bios is super cool, but outside of a background for the aimless wandering of our main charector, nothing happens surrounding it.

Still good after all these books
Revisado: 06-21-15
The exploits of the marines and navy continue to stay fresh even after this many books. While each book is no longer a complete story I like the over arching theme and story of those portion of the story arc.

Even the imperial legions, long inured to the bloodshed, yearn for some respite. Yet Empress Laseen's rule remains absolute, enforced by her dread Claw assassins.

Hard to follow
Revisado: 04-18-15
The story jumps around a lot making it hard to follow. It makes it hard to become invested into the characters. It isn't a bad book and I can see how some would like it, but it isn't for me.

A surprisingly suspenseful story
Revisado: 08-06-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to anyone I knew that both was enthralled by Internet and computer security enough to grasp some of the higher level computer jargon that is used. While the author does a great job of breaking the oat complex down into very simply terms it would seem somewhat confusing to someone who knows nothing of both the computer and how virus's work.
Any additional comments?
The story was dramatic and engaging. Even though it happened in the past so I Know for a fact that the world survived, I found myself biting my fingernails at the possible outcome and understanding just how those involved at the time must have felt.
