Historia
One day Nathan comes over with two goldfish named Sawney and Beaney. "I'll swap you them," says the little boy of the house. "What for?" asks Nathan. As it turns out, Nathan doesn't want anything that the boy and his little sister suggest for trading... not an old spaceship or even Clownie the clown. Finally, the boy has an idea, the kind of idea that changes the whole world: he decides to swap his dad.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Lighthearted and fun
Revisado: 05-13-24
Wil Wheaton is the perfect narrator for the story, which is quite amusing. The play on the premise that the main character inherits his uncle's business and has to navigate the world of villains is well done with a number of fun twists and turns as is to be expected from John Scalzi.

Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

I really appreciate the female and male narrators

Having a female and male narrator really enhances the experience of the audio book.
However I wonder why the chapters for Bael are labeled as Bayou 🤔

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Caveat - I'm a knitter
Revisado: 05-20-23
The story is not bad, the characters are decent, the knitting was problematic for me. By chapter 6 I was convinced that the author is not a knitter herself but after looking online I learned, to my surprise, that she actually did learn to knit sometime in/after 2002 and the book is published in 2006.
Moving past the knitting, but it is knitting adjacent. Each and every character learned to knit "to save my life". Not one person in the knitting circle learned from their mother/grandmother, or a friend when they were younger. No one was inspired by a book/movie/TV show. No one learned in order to make a Dr Who or Harry Potter scarf. Nope! They were all going through some hardships in their life and that's when they learned how to knit. Really!?
If and when I could look past these things I did enjoy the book.
