Historia
The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

John Pirhalla is amazing. I would recommend that if you have hang ups with a change in narrators, give this a shot. John will surprise you!

Historia
To clear his name and avoid trial-by-crocodile, Markham agrees to help Nina locate the missing legend at the helm . . . and the fact that Nina makes Markham’s blood jump around like waves under the deck may have added to that decision. But soon the most vicious gang lord threatens to corrupt everything on the vessel, from its dizzying neon casinos to its boiler-room volcano. As shadow and panic overtake the ship, Markham must find the Captain—or something in himself—to stop it before the cruise becomes a nightmare.

This story is amazingly original. You must listen. Just don't think that you can multitask because there are loads of details in every sentence that manage to paint the shipboard living.

Amazingly Spontaneous
Revisado: 03-08-23
I took a chance on this story and was super surprised with the flow. And the excitement. And the great narration! In almost every other "humorous" story examples I can think of, the stories seem...fake, somehow. Like, "Hey. Let's turn the flow 90 degrees!" Lame.
The Brothers Crunk is so well orchestrated that you absolutely must put everything else out of your mind so that you can follow along. The detail, subtle humor, and flow will mesmerize you. I'm not going to give any details because I want you to experience the fullness of something fresh and funny.
I would love to listen to something else written by author William Pauley III, and even better, also narrated by Connor Brannigan. I'm going start searching now...

Historia
Set in the pseudo-historical Hyborian Age and concerns Conan infiltrating a perilous tower in order to steal a fabled gem from an evil sorcerer named Yara. Due to its unique insights into the Hyborian world and atypical science fiction elements, the story is considered a classic of Conan lore and is often cited by Howard scholars as one of his best tales. One of the original short stories starring the fictional sword and sorcery hero Conan the Cimmerian, written by American author Robert E. Howard.

The narration, supporting sounds, and fantastic voices make this a must read for more than those Conan fans out there, but for many who like fantasy and have never found the right time to immerse themselves in Robert E. Howard's world of Conan.

Somewhat Redundant
Revisado: 06-15-18
All three Bigfoot stories are straight out of another book in this series; only 2/3 of this book is original. While I feel somewhat cheated, all of the stories were great. And there is some real talent in the narrators!

Historia
The afterlife doesn't come with a manual. In fact, Hart and Bowler (two ordinary but dead men) have had to work out the rules of their new existence for themselves. It's that fact (along with being unable to leave the boundaries of their city center, unable to communicate with the other lost souls, unable to rest in case The Beast catches up with them) that makes getting out of their situation a priority. But Hart and Bowler don't know why they're there in the first place; if they ever want to leave, they will have to find all the answers to be able to understand the physics of the dead.

Mind Changed
Revisado: 04-11-16
What did you love best about The Physics of the Dead?
The ending. Totally not what I expected.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Physics of the Dead?
When "The Beast" bragged to Bowler before he broke him. It explained a lot.
Have you listened to any of Luke Smitherd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, this is my first Luke Smitherd book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. It was really sad when Bowler remembered his wife "watching" as her boyfriend beat him up.
Any additional comments?
I was really going to give this book a 2 or 3 out of 5 stars. The switching back and forth in time kept me confused until I was well into the story. Usually, I dump a book if it doesn't capture my attention after the first third. However, I stuck it out and really enjoyed the end. And the fact that Luke doesn't explain everything has kept me thinking. I love that in a story. It makes it very memorable for me as I can't stop thinking about it!
