I loved this book so much! Literally kept me guessing until the end. I usually always like this author’s books, but some I have found dull and hard to follow. But, this one is AMAZING!! 5 *****!!!!

I was so nervous about someone new joining our house share. After everything that happened with my parents, my friends are like my family. Our imperfect, but well-loved house is the only place where I can be myself. But when Poppy knocks on our door, blonde hair, wide eyes, and a friendly smile, we all agree she’s a perfect fit. I just wish I could shake the feeling that I’ve seen her before…

So entertaining, kept my attention and super twists at the end. Loved the characters ( especially June). FABULOUS narration. I would listen to more from this wonderful author, but I CANNOT STAND Imogen Church as a narrator. I pass many books by because of her. More Ashley Tucker! Brilliant author! 5*******

No bond is more sacred than the one between a mother and child. And no figure is more sympathetic than a mother whose child faces a life-threatening illness. But what if the mother is the reason for the illness? What if the sympathy is the point? With help from some of the top MBP experts in the world, Dunlop and Weber uncover the complex maze of psychological, systemic, and cultural issues that compound MBP and offer solutions for how we might find our way out.

Don’t waste money
Revisado: 02-11-25
Book is choppy, jumps around and delivers absolutely no information as to why this happens, how the brain of an individual with this condition operates, and zero personal touches. Absolutely nothing about her sister who supposedly has the condition?? Totally impersonal and just plain b l a h. Frankly, the book feels like one large advertisement for her podcast- which I wish I had listened to ( only 3.8 stars there) rather than wasting money on this. It’s unfortunate as I do feel like this issue deserves more recognition.

Historia
By the mid 1980s, AIDS hysteria was so rampant that a fearful and prejudiced public ignored stories of gay men falling ill with lesions and mouth ulcers. President Reagan avoided mentioning the disease entirely. Then, as chronicled in Blood Farm, a new HIV-positive population emerged, one that included kids like Ken Dixon, Brad Cross, and Ryan White who had been infected as young as ten years old. But how?

Judgmental author
Revisado: 07-19-24
I enjoyed this book. Very interesting. However, I did not appreciate her judgmental stance ( beginning in chap. 14) implying that the plasma practices in the USA are “ unethical” without acknowledging how large the USA is in comparison to almost everywhere, and how much of the world relies on US products. It is natural things are run differently given the vast size. She came across as pompous, preachy and educated on a country’s system where she is not even a citizen. This soured the whole book. The UK government created this mess. The UK pharmaceutical practices are certainly not the gold standard and clearly neither was their government in this disgusting cover up. Americans were affected also affected. Stop blaming the country that made this and instead keep your focus on the criminals who continues to use this, That chapter full of criticism and judgement was disappointing, unnecessary and frankly ruined what otherwise was a very interesting book.

Historia
Before Colton Underwood captured the hearts of millions on The Bachelor, he was a goofy, socially awkward, overweight adolescent who succeeded on the football field while struggling with personal insecurities off it. An All-American gridiron hero, he was also a complex, sometimes confused, soft-hearted romantic wondering how these contradictions fit together. Old-fashioned and out of step with the swipe-right dating culture of today, he was saving the most intimate part of life for the love of his life. If only he could find her.

Read “ My life on the line” by Ryan O’ Callaghan instead
Revisado: 02-26-24
Watch the season again and save your money, I kept hoping Cass’ question was “ How do you know you are not GAY?” My son is gay and never would get a “high riser” frolicking in the water with a woman. This is ridiculous! Read “ My life on the line” ( a true NFL former player)if you want a book with actual substance on an important topic. It’s not even mentioned in this.

Author insults Floridians
Revisado: 10-18-23
If you live in Florida, be prepared to be insulted by this author. The multiple comments throughout the book inferring that Floridians are ignorant, closed minded, homophobic and right wing is absolutely insulting, and frankly, proof that the author herself is new to the writing game. Lauren, I live in North Florida, have a gay son, am very, very left leaning and care about equity, inclusion and climate change. We have also lived in Seattle and San Francisco for years prior to moving to Florida. Your comments were not appreciated and frankly, shows you are closed minded and making gross generalizations. Other than this gross error in the author’s judgement, the book & narrator were great. Next book, try not to insult the people who purchase your work…
