Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Disappointed in the ending.

Did not enjoy the new narrator. A little preachy regarding climate change. Also, disappointed in the ending.

Started out fine…..
Revisado: 07-05-23
The beginning was intriguing, but there were so many missed opportunities. Most of the characters were pathetic, their lives depressing. I found it hard to like any of them except the victim.

Full of trite cliches

The main character is so self centered, stupid and unlikeable. She acts like she’s the first single woman to have a baby. Don’t waste your time.

Historia
Penelope Grand has scrapped her failed career as an artist in Pittsburgh and moved back to Brooklyn to keep an eye on her ailing father. She's accepted that her future won't be what she'd dreamed, but now, as gentrification has completely reshaped her old neighborhood, even her past is unrecognizable. Old haunts have been razed, and wealthy white strangers have replaced every familiar face in Bed-Stuy. Even her mother, Mirella, has abandoned the family to reclaim her roots in the Dominican Republic. That took courage. It's also unforgivable.

What?
Revisado: 03-05-20
This book was pointless. After 12 hours, you are still left with a completely unlikable main character who resolved nothing in her life. The author spent so much time describing tiny details of everything that there was no time to write an ending.

The narrator was the worst!
Revisado: 03-08-19
The story was not as good as the first but still enjoyable. However, the narrator gave the characters screeching, whining, completely annoying voices. Like nails on a chalkboard. I hope they get some else for the next book.

It's a shame....
Revisado: 07-12-18
It's a shame this author had so little confidence in her story and ability. The use of "F-bombs" and crass sexual phrasing was completely unnecessary. It made the main character less like able and detracted from the story.

Was there no editor???
Revisado: 06-18-18
I had wanted to read/listen to this book for a long time. The premise was so intriguing. I was so disappointed. It was rambling and repetitive. I enjoy long detailed books. This book however did not need to be this long. Many times the author repeated long lists of names for no purpose as well as describing people and places over and over.

In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Great premise!
Revisado: 07-23-17
The narrator is fantastic! Good story. It kept you interested despite the length. However the ending was less than satisfying and almost seemed an after thought. The body of the story was filled with so many details and intricacies, then the ending was hurried and shapeless.
