Best story

I love all of the books but this one had me hooked. Twists and turns. And when you think it’s solved there is more. Old characters intertwine throughout the book.

Enjoyable cozy mystery
Revisado: 06-24-22
A story set in early 1930s going from England to France. Polly finds out she is not the person she thought she was. along her journey she meets several people who are not what they appear to be. Mix this in with the results of WW1 and the rumblings of WW2.

As half of the writing duo behind England’s most infamous crime column, Miss Caroline Hardcastle has quite the scandalous reputation. It may have cost her a fiancé, but she would much rather bring attention to crimes against those ignored by society than worry about what the ton thinks of her.

why I returned the book
Revisado: 12-19-21
I love cozy mysteries that I want to listen to more than once and most of this book falls into that category. then the sex scene. it wasn't hard core but detailed enough it didn't fit what I considered the flow of the book.

Magdalene la Batarde is the madam of the Old Priory Guesthouse in Southwark. She and her women are expected to engage in a number of sinful activities, but bloody murder isn't one of them until Baldassare, the messenger, dies. Though Baldassare isn't a regular client of the Old Priory Guesthouse, Magdalene and her women refuse to allow his death to go unavenged. Of course, their efforts aren't completely altruistic.
