While I usually prefer a strong, feisty heroine, I am loving Robin's character. She has always been introverted, likes to stand back and observe, and prefers to shy away from confrontation, but she has guts. And she is learning to "control" her demon. Well, as much as Zylas can BE controlled!
In this installment, they continue to learn about and from each other. And we, in turn, get sucked into their world, their relationship, their lives.
The author is brilliantly weaving Spellbound and Demonized together. As much as I like Tori and the guys in Spellbound, I find myself searching for more of Robin and Zylas, loving and enjoying their store more. Demonized has gripped me and I am currently in their corner.

Cannot wait for the next installment (and still loving Zylas' voice and snark

So...I have read all of the Spellbound series up to this point and figured I would give this offshoot a try. We met Robin in "Demon Magic and a Martini" , so let's see what she is all about. After only a few chapters, I could not put it down. Robin is SO different that Tori! She is shy and introvert and would rather have her head inside of a book (I can relate!). While she may hate confrontations and has to work herself to try to stand her ground, you can tell there is strength under there somewhere.
So how does a shy, non-confrontational bookworm become a demon contractor? Well, that's the story now, isn't it!

And Zylas? I love this demon and his snarky attitude! And I truly enjoy the voice that narrator gave him. Makes it very easy to picture him in your head!

I like how this series is now mingled with Spellbound. You get to see how situations are viewed from different angles

Nice job !

While Tori still has a lot to learn, and she she seems to fall back to being happily ignorant about certain things (demons, perhaps?) as a way of coping, she sill seems to have grown a little more in this installment. Although, I am still waiting for her to have a little more confidence in herself in front of the bar instead of just behind it!

And Ezra? Ah, Ezra...I was waiting to learn more about this one...knew there was much, much more to him!

This installment also is like an intro into Demonica with a new character - Robin (who has her own series intermingled now with this one).

Back to what I expected of the series... let's see where it goes from her

A LOT happening in this installment. But I must say that this one was only ok for me. Tori lost some luster in my book - she seemed more whiny? something...turned me off somewhat. Hope she gets back in her groove for the next book

In this installment, Tori continues to learn about the life outside of the human appearance - and boy is there more to learn! There are more secrets to uncover, more battles to engage, more of her three hunky mages with which to contend! An the change of scenery from the bar was a nice diversion. Awaiting to continue with her escapades!

Narration is spot on

What started out as overseas grade school pen pals turns into so much more. The way the author tells the story intrigues from the start. You feel as if a participant in Luca and Griffin's journey. While they become close and discuss everything, they also have secrets (beginning with their grade school teachers not letting them use their real last name -for security purposes),they have drama, heartache an loneliness in their lives. They lose touch and then... well, will reuniting rekindle their friendship, become more, or wither and die? Kept me glued to the pages - Great story.
(P.S. Loved Jacob Morgan's Griffin voice in the Audiobook - really brought him to life )

Wrath, newly freed and wanting to step forward and be part of the task force, still has his issues from Mercile to overcome. I liked that Lauren wasn't perfect, skinny, beautiful - but a normal everyday girl next door needs to shed a few pounds woman. I also liked that SHE got to save HIM (not just the tiny female needs protection _although there was, of course, some of that!) There is, once again, the topic of rape in the storyline...maybe a change up of the dilemma the "little human female" has might be in order? I didn't care for the narrator's "take" on Wrath's voice. I know he's new to freedom, language could still be a little stilted, but it sounded like he had a mouthful of gauze or something - not manly and growly and strong. Otherwise, looking a bit better

I was SO looking forward to Brawn, but Becca blew it. Oh, she started out great, going toe to toe with her military father, acting like a spit fire and capable of handling anything. By the end of the book, I thought I was reading about a totally different person. NOT to female I saw for Brawn. Well, to each his own...wonder what's in store for Wrath.

This is a fun start to this series. Tori is lost and searching for herself, her purpose, a job where her snarky attitude won't get her fired! What she finds instead is a world of magic hiding in plain view and a side of herself she never realized was there. The characters are well thought out and as the storyline emerges, it begins to ensnare the readers imagination. In this audible version, I thought the narrator does a good job of showing Tori's personality and snark. Nice start...waiting to see what book two holds.

I was SO looking forward to Justice's story. He's is the leader and the face of the NSO - the connection between New Species and human. I was so ready to throttle him! What a JERK!
Jessie, a senator's daughter, and on a human squad to rescue "Gift" species, is a strong, capable woman, trained in self defense and how to handle a gun. Yet everyone (male, that is) her father (who got her the job by the way), the leader of the squad, and Justice - disrespects that!
At first, Justice is impressed by her strength, character and ability to protect herself. But then starts with the - you would be in danger, you might get hurt, I'm afraid I'll hurt you - which turns into - ok, but no one can know. Really? Dirty little secret? When Jessie tells him no more, next comes the jealousy. No other man can touch you. Uh uh. Can't have it both ways!
I truly expected more from him.

I realize the narrator is female but, yet again, I ask, why must they male species voices sound SO female
