Most dissapointing follow up novel I ever read
Revisado: 07-15-21
I was so excited to find Ready Player Two in Audible that I didn't even read one review. I immediately put it in my cart. That was a mistake. Wil Wheaton is fantastic, as usual, but even his flawless and engaging narration does not save this steaming pile of a book.
The major issue--the story is just that bad. Wade Watts is a jerk of epic proportions, and almost unrecognizable. The story line is completely unoriginal and gives me the sense that it was written in a half-baked attempt to play off the success of Ready Player One.
The second issue is almost as irritating as the first. The author, editors, movie producers, and/or publishers are clearly "woke" and think that everyone else should be, too. I am moderate in my views so a few references don't bother me. But there is such an undercurrent of this political view that it takes away from an already poorly written story.
Who will LOVE this book - those that consider themselves woke and want the world to be woke.
Who will DESPISE this book - anyone who is more conservative in their views.
Who will be extremely DISAPPOINTED in this book - science fiction fans who just wanted a good story.

Historia
A movie director is charged with murdering an actress during sex, and then staging her death to make it look like a suicide. In a seemingly unrelated case, a loner is murdered, leaving the sheriff's department with no clues. One unsettling revelation after another leaves a retired FBI agent and an L.A. detective thinking they've unmasked a most frightening killer with almost inconceivable calculation.

Narrator is the worst ever

Narration caused me to stop listening.
Revisado: 12-21-15
The actual story started out OK, but I could not listen to more than two chapters. The narrator, Richard Davidson, just does not fit with this book. Davidson's voice has little inflection, and often I could not determine which character was speaking. I picture a grizzled, chain-smoking old man with a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth as he reads some sports scores. I really tried to keep listening because I wanted to find out how the story was going to unfold, but I just couldn't. One of the few audio books I actually quit on.

Historia
Our brains are marvels, hard-wired by millions of years of evolution to boast a number of mental shortcuts, biases, and tricks that allow us to negotiate our complicated lives without overthinking every choice and decision we have to make. Unfortunately, those ancient shortcuts don't always work to our advantage in our modern lives - when we don't also think slowly and rationally, those hard-wired habits can trip us up. This intriguing book helps us to understand how our minds are predisposed to think about the world....

Got Really boring
Revisado: 08-30-12
This book lost me about halfway though. It's basically a list of different types of heuristics and then summarizes studies that back up the definition of each type. Summary after summary after summary of studies, research experiments. There is almost not practical information that I can actually put to good use. This is just a big collection of study abstracts.
