Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Excellently written

The story needs a little more hope. Yes, life is hard. But that is why hope is so compelling.

"It sounded at first like something out of an old horror movie. I thought maybe someone was just playing around, but then I heard it again and again, a loud piercing cry, and less like Hollywood every time. The windows were down in my police cruiser on that warm fall day, but I still couldn’t tell where the sounds came from. I began looking around for the unlikely sight of someone being disemboweled in a mall parking lot on a Saturday afternoon. Seeing nothing, and still hearing the screams, I called in a “disturbance”.... Around the next corner I found the source of the commotion.

Bold, Well Written, Strong
Revisado: 10-02-21
Thoughtful, honest, grounded in rich theology. This is strong meat for those who are faced with similar great challenges. Very well written. The only part that seemed to lack clarity to me was the chapter about the eternal spiritual status of profoundly disabled individuals who are not able to comprehend right and wrong. Otherwise the clarity and simplicity were good and deep and will provoke much thoughtful consideration.

Gives much insight into Lee’s thinking
Revisado: 03-18-18
I am joyed the book, which was thoroughly researched and provided a lot of insight into what made Robert Lee the person he was. Absorbing history and quite interesting. The reader did a fine job. I came away with a comprehensive view of Lee and his family. I found it inspiring that this man was so clearly devoted to his God, and became more and more so throughout his life. His spiritual life was exemplary, and his love for Jesus Christ was demonstrated regularly. He had great
Confidence in the goodness of God despite all the difficulties of life.

Historia
Jonathan Edwards is one of the most extraordinary figures in American history. Arguably the most brilliant theologian ever born on American soil, Edwards (1703 - 1758) was also a pastor, a renowned preacher, a missionary to the Native Americans, a biographer, a college president, a philosopher, a loving husband, and the father of 11 children.

Excellent study of Edwards' Life
Revisado: 04-18-17
George Marsden has written a very accessible and engaging study of the life of Jonathan Edwards. I very much enjoyed and appreciated this book. Marsden has given us a very professional job as a historian while touching on all the interesting aspects of Edwards's life that I would have wanted to know more about. I found it a great listen and very highly recommend it.

Historia
A groundbreaking guide to the surprising source of good health. Genetics and lifestyle are thought to be the two most important determinants of good health. But that is not the whole story. We have a second genome, our gut bacteria, that sets the dial on our bodies. Unlike our DNA, we can influence the gut bacteria, or microbiota, to optimize all aspects of our health. In The Good Gut, noted Stanford researchers Justin and Erica Sonnenburg investigate how the trillions of microbes that reside in our gastrointestinal tract help define us.

Grateful for this book
Revisado: 04-12-17
The authors have presented a scholarly yet practical book that has changed my awareness and impacted my eating choices. Even listening on audible, I was able to follow the book quite well. The book answered a number of questions that I had and presented new information. The authors seemed to make every effort to stick with scientific analysis and testing results rather than bare opinion. At the same time, the book was engaging.
