Historia
When Vicky Cogburn’s Mafia boyfriend enters the witness protection program, she enlists a law firm to set her up with a fake wife and fake life far away from the city. Ambitious, no-nonsense attorney Rachel Huntington would do anything to secure a partnership in her New York City law firm—even if it means hiding out and playing house with a seductive Mafia mistress.

5 Stars!
Revisado: 11-03-24
After listening to Hide No More by Rita Potter, audio narrator Jessie Elwyn has been bumped into my list of favourites. Her voice is smooth, and her characterisation is clear and individualised for each character. For myself, a bit of an audio snob, this is a great find; we all know the wrong narrator can kill a fantastic book.
Attorney Rachel is pushed into a strange appointment by the partners of the firm, with the promise it would help her make partner. She is hesitant when she finds out it is an undercover gig with Vicky, a woman who is hiding from the mafia.
As the women embrace the roles of a married couple in a small town, tentative friendship forms into attraction. Vicky and Rachel begin to feel comfortable, settling into a routine. It isn’t long before someone starts questioning their new friends, and they know they need to work out who is behind it all so they can have their happily ever after.
Potter’s characters are perfectly flawed, each with unique struggles and judgments. The gradual unveiling of backstories and the MCs’ journeys through their insecurities kept me glued to the story. Potter skillfully crafts deeply developed characters within a plot brimming with mystery, action, and romance. Hide No More is one of those books that grabs you right from the blurb. I went in with high expectations, and they were exceeded tenfold.
I received an ARC from the author and am leaving an honest review.

Based around the Seven Deadly Sins, The Bartenders Pride is book one of T.J. Dallas’ Pride Trilogy, and if there is one thing you should know; it’s to prepare for the ride of your life!
Told from multiple POVs, the story begins with Lara, closeted and looking for a job. She arrives at The Cardinal, and more specifically Harry’s bar. Here, she learns to take pride in herself and discovers she doesn’t need to hide the desires she has long ignored.
Harry is one of seven managers at The Cardinal, and her nightclub is where most of the action takes place. She is confident and cocky—an arrogant soft butch who is the centre of the universe for many of those around her. As controlled as she is, though, all she wants is to protect the ones she loves. And have the time of her life doing it.
The Bartender's Pride is an erotic romance, leaning very much to the erotic side of things, and the sex really does flow from one chapter to the next, sometimes with barely a chance to recover in between. I doubt anyone will find a reason to complain, though. With a cast of magnetically alluring characters and a plot that slowly unravels into a shocking truth, this is only the beginning of a series that is bound to be a rollercoaster ride of fun and pure evil.
T.J. Dallas knows how to write a sex scene. In soooo many different ways. Never monotonous, always fresh and creative, and super-hot. On top of that, the characters are intricately crafted, with detailed backstories and personalities. The plot rides along nicely in the shadow of the erotica, balancing perfectly.
After reading the book several years ago, I listened to the audio version of The Bartender’s Pride, and there is definitely an upside to hearing Scarlett Rose bring Harry alive, Scottish accent and all. If you’re late to the party and haven’t checked out this series, I’d recommend doing it now!

Angsty love
Revisado: 03-29-22
I liked One Summer Night. It did get quite emotionally frustrating in parts, but I found it quite refreshingly realistic. It's not always easy to act on the urge to kiss someone, or ask them to stay.
Johanna and Kelly had some amazing chemistry which results in some pretty steamy love scenes. Actually, I do remember thinking there was a lot of sex in this book, but once again, Abby Craden, so I'm not complaining.
Yes it's a bit angsty, and you may want to tell Johanna to get over it but Gerri Hill has written a beautiful love story that is worth checking out.
