It is getting worse. But the premise is still so good that even gradually worsening stories based on the same characters are still very good. I would definitely get the next part of the story when it comes out.

An interesting story, based on a bizarre premise

Despite the bizarre premise this story works. And it works so well, that I could easily accept it without requiring more explanation of why things are as they are in that world. I recommend and I am looking forward to further continuations (there were two already which I also liked).

This seemed to me more like classic scifi. Of course, I didn't check when it was written, but it seems to fit the 1970s. I liked it, although it was far too serious for my taste. Good for the casual scifi fan, I think. I recommend.

A motley band of heroes, a fairly new idea. I liked it. I didn't see any obvious problems.

The story is good, the idea is good, problem is, as often, that the author does not seem to have a solid understand of how computers work and so a lot of the story line simply doesn't make sense. There are several unexpected twists because the story logic is not in sync with how the computer was just explained in the story and the result is not excellent.

It's the first 5-5-5 for me, I think. Love the story, love the performance (of the author himself), love the presentation. This is just fun. First author who actually seems to have an idea of how computers work too...

The author's first attempt, I believe, and it's a good one. If you like Terry Pratchett, you might also like this. It's like a more focussed world and fewer characters and less intellectual than Discworld. I recommend!

Interesting but also cringeworthy at times

Kevin's story is amazing but unfortunately he goes into less technical detail than I had hoped. It is also clear, and that made me cringe at times, that he considered himself a smart social engineer when he lies to people but he regularly felt betrayed when someone lied to him. He clearly had a very different view of the same activity when done by him and when done by others. Maybe he was trying to make that point, I don't. It is rather obvious. All-in-all the story is interesting because of Kevin's general situation but the concept is a bit boring since he created that situation for himself and could have stopped any time. It's really a very good but ultimately empty story. If you like the post-1970s hacker scene (when "hacker" had changed meaning to mean an attacker rather than a good programmer), the book is for you. It felt a bit off for me. (I preferred "The Cuckoo's Egg", another book about the same subject but seen from the other side.)

I think the author was sometimes confused about the order of things but then it was a difficult subject ultimately well-executed. Highly recommend!

I like stories that explore what happens when something is changed in nature. This one works particularly well. The hero has to cope with a somewhat unexplained phenomenom and the author tells a good story of what this means for the hero. The ending is a bit less spectacular than it could have been.
