the search for the "historical Jesus" is resurrected, with intriguing criticisms of most historians and theologians who have attempted to explain Jesus. Fans of the Jesus Seminary will be challenged. Traditional Christians may find the use of textual criticism and historical criticism offensive, but Keck's conclusions are purely in line with traditional Christian beliefs (regarding Teacher/Prophet role of Jesus, Messiahship of Jesus, Resurrection, the Church as "Israel," and other ideas). Most interesting to me is his explanation of Jesus as "son" of G-d, defining the term in context of Second Temple era.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It's a long book, maybe 90 chapters, but works fine for listening during the daily commute to and from work. A classic Techno-Thriller. Many intertwining characters and subplots keep the story moving quickly and no significant "loose ends." The parallel to Al Qieda and Osama bin Laden are obvious, but this was all written long before his assissination by our Special Forces team. Clancy and Blackwood produce convincing accounts of the inner motivation of the Islamic terrorists (unless you prefer "freedom fighters"), the politicians, intelligence officials, and the secret forces defending America (Jack Ryan, et al).

What did you like best about this story?

The character development and the complexity of the plot which is set on four different continents at any given moment.

Which character – as performed by Lou Diamond Phillips – was your favorite?

John Clark, the operational/military leader of the clandestine squad employed by "The Campus" (a private CIA-like group set up by the former president, Jack Ryan, to track down threats to the USA and to eliminate them, if necessary).

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the description of Emir's "breaking". A physician who had lost his brother in the 9/11 attack administers the drug that induces a paralyzed state and an eventual heart attack, The detailed description of the Emir's sensations and thoughts were insightful. (just in case you were worried that I gave away the end, the story doesn't end there.)
