Historia
Spensa’s life as a Defiant Defense Force pilot has been far from ordinary. She proved herself one of the best starfighters in the human enclave of Detritus, and she saved her people from extermination at the hands of the Krell - the enigmatic alien species that has been holding them captive for decades. What’s more, she traveled light-years from home as an undercover spy to infiltrate the Superiority, where she learned of the galaxy beyond her small planet home. Now, the Superiority - the governing galactic alliance bent on dominating all human life - has started a galaxy-wide war.

Best of the series
Revisado: 02-17-22
This book was by far the best of the series. It was very well-paced. It also was less teen romance heavy.

Sex, spies, and action
Revisado: 10-20-21
I enjoyed the world so far, although it wasn't as heavy on the politics as I would have preferred. The main characters all continue to be able to pull off James Bond level missions with minimal support, which is somewhat off-putting but didn't really reduce my enjoyment. There were a fair bit of spicy sex scenes throughout. I would have liked a bit less action and more investigation, but that is just my personal preference. The narrator did a great job with the voices, although all the male characters had the same tone and inflection.

Brutal but good
Revisado: 07-21-21
If you liked Red Rising, you will love this series. It is brutal but keeps you coming back. I was expecting just another Hunger Games generic young adult fiction, but this was so much better.

YA with little depth
Revisado: 05-20-21
While the concept of this book was good, I found that the execution was overly basic and without real depth. As usual with YA dystopian novels, the book centers around a young couple. The characters are all fairly one-dimensional though, and the world itself isn't filled out as much as I would have preferred.
Still, it was well-performed and a good way to pass a long drive.

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

slow start, but had a great crescendo progression

The beginning was meandering, but it really picked up. The narrator was well-matched to this story.

Great concept, but a teen romance
Revisado: 11-16-20
This book has such a great concept, but it gets ruined a bit by the very cheesy teen romance drama. Additionally, while supposedly very smart, the protagonist makes a ridiculous amount of stupid decisions (although, she is a teenager I suppose).

Young Adult Dystopia
Revisado: 10-13-20
This is your quintessential YA dystopian novel. The world created is an interesting concept, although not much detail is given in this book. It focuses instead on the main character, and is the standard "girl debates rebelling and falls for bad boy" troupe. That said, it's a very enjoyable book still, despite the eye-rolling romantic plot. If you like this genre, it's a great book.
