Historia
The Return of the King is the towering climax to J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy that tells the saga of the hobbits of Middle-earth and the great War of the Rings. In this concluding volume, Frodo and Sam make a terrible journey to the heart of the Land of the Shadow in a final reckoning with the power of Sauron. In addition to narrating the prose passages, Rob Inglis sings the trilogy’s songs and poems a capella, using melodies composed by Inglis and Claudia Howard, the Recorded Books studio director.

The Return of the King brings Tolkien's trilogy to a close, and ties up many threads with poignancy and joy, especially for Frodo and Sam.

Historia
This, the first in the splendid series of Jack Aubrey novels, establishes the friendship between Captain Aubrey, Royal Navy, and Stephen Maturin, ship's surgeon and intelligence agent, against the thrilling backdrop of the Napoleonic wars. Details of life aboard a man-of-war in Nelson's navy are faultlessly rendered: the conversational idiom of the officers in the ward room and the men on the lower deck, the food, the floggings, the mysteries of the wind and the rigging, and the road of broadsides as the great ships close in battle.

Wonderful narration of the first volume of twenty
Revisado: 02-12-19
Loved being immersed in the Aubrey-Maturin series again. I have read or listen to the full series of 20 novels set in the Napoleonic era 5 times since first discovering it in the mid-1990s. There are many wonderful scenes, but my favorite and most memorable is the opening scene where these future friends meet at an orchestral concert. I highly recommend the story and the narrator.

Girl in ancient Egypt is sold into slavery, but...
Revisado: 01-10-19
as I usually do, I listen to this audiobook in bed at night. I like this first novel in a series so much did I had to go back several times and cover portions that I missed when falling asleep. I love the story of this Egyptian girl sold into slavery by her father to pay debt. I greatly enjoyed seeing the biblical plagues and Redemption of Israel out of slavery in Egypt from a fictional perspective. I was excited to read the description of Kaya and her family, and all the children of Israel killing from God directly from the mountain. there was poignancy and anxious moments throughout the novel which made me want to find out what will happen to them.
The narrator was very good except for a few mispronunciations, particularly the word Levites.
I chose this first novel in the trilogy , which sold at a very low price. I hope to purchase and listen listen to the other two when I can afford them or if they come down in price. at present, I can no longer afford the monthly Audible subscription.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

On Cloud Nine after reading Cloud Nine
Revisado: 12-24-17
This is my second favorite Luanne Rice novel after Follow the Stars Home. I find the characters and the settings memorable. I love hearing the main characters inner thoughts and memories, especially the women's, Sarah's and Snow's. I enjoy that a pilot, planes and cross-country flying are featured in the story. I am touched by the fact that illness and disabilities and loss drive the plot, as well as love and change. Sandra Burr's reading adds to the story. I will listen to this novel again.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to find yourself strapped to a giant rocket that's about to go from zero to 17,500 miles per hour? Or to look back on Earth from outer space and see the surprisingly precise line between day and night? Or to stand in front of the Hubble Space Telescope, wondering if the emergency repair you're about to make will inadvertently ruin humankind's chance to unlock the universe's secrets? Mike Massimino has been there, and in Spaceman he puts you inside the suit.

Massimino tells his own story
Revisado: 05-15-17
Loved astronaut Mike Massimino's telling his story. I enjoyed his honesty about his educational and career struggles, and was surprised by his eyesight issues. The first Hubble servicing mission, STS-61, has long been my favorite, but Mass makes vivid his experiences on the second and then the third and final servicing missions.
His reading voice was a bit stilted, especially at first, but I got used to it and was glad to hear him narrate his own story.

Historia
Lazarus occupies a surprising position in the Gospel accounts. Widely known as the man Jesus raised from the dead, his story is actually much broader and richer than that. Living as he did at Bethany, near Jerusalem, Lazarus was uniquely placed to witness the swirl of events around Jesus. When Jesus Wept, the first novel in The Jerusalem Chronicles series by best-selling authors Bodie and Brock Thoene, unfolds the turbulent times in Judea during Jesus' ministry, centering on the friendship between Jesus and Lazarus.

Revisado: 02-13-16
Enjoyed the story from the point of view of Lazarus, the beloved friend of Jesus who returned him to life, his sisters, Mary and Martha.
Vivid scenes of a plague in Jerusalem, the death, Lazarus ' experience of heaven, his resurrection by the power of Jesus.
Fine job of reading by the narrator. Only a couple mispronounced or misemphasised words. I will likely re-listen to this title, and try others on Audible by the There's.

Emphasis on the word "brief."
Revisado: 12-24-15
Professor Greenberg knows how to tell a story, as well as share his expertise . I've enjoyed several of his full-length courses on audio from The Great Courses . perhaps I should have realized that this brief overview of holiday music would focus on historical concert pieces for orchestra or choruses, rather than modern Christmas carols that I think of as holiday music , but, I was fooled by my own expectations as much as by a lack of clarity in the advertisement. It was certainly worth a listen at this price .
