Historia
So many stories begin the same way: With a prophecy. A chosen one. And the inevitable quest to slay a villain, save the kingdom, and fulfill a grand destiny. But this is not that kind of story. It does begin with a prophecy: A child will rise to defeat the Eternal Khan, a cruel immortal god-king, and save the kingdom. And that prophecy did anoint a hero, Jian, raised since birth in luxury and splendor, and celebrated before he has won a single battle.

Hard to understand the narrator
Revisado: 12-10-22
I can’t be completely appreciative of this book. The narrator’s voice was very hard me to understand. I’m hard of hearing and even using aids to hear the story it still didn’t work. I really didn’t like when she would lower her voice for emphasis. Ruined the story for me.

Historia
He fought for Washington, served with Lincoln, witnessed Bunker Hill, and sounded the clarion against slavery on the eve of the Civil War. He negotiated an end to the War of 1812, engineered the annexation of Florida, and won the Supreme Court decision that freed the African captives of La Amistad. He served his nation as minister to six countries, secretary of state, senator, congressman, and president. John Quincy Adams was all of these things and more. In this masterful biography, award-winning author Harlow Giles Unger reveals Adams as a towering figure in the nation’s formative years.

One of the most understated people in American history. This history helps understand what one person has done for the American people and their rights.

2 was okay.
Revisado: 03-22-21
This book starts off really slow. Too much time spent going over what happened. It doesn’t follow the continuity the end of 1. Once they into the contest the book does pick up. But not enough to rate more than three stars.

Great story
Revisado: 06-10-20
I like the voice and voices used by the narrator. My only complaint is the Austrian sounds more Asian than European.
The story moves quickly enough to keep my interest and not so technical that I have no idea what they’re talking about. I guess being a hairless ape plays into this.

Good story...
Revisado: 12-24-19
This story is very good, I liked how it flowed and how the characters worked together.
My major complaint is the HUMVE maneuvering was very far fetched. This vehicle will not ride up on two wheels or smoke the tires. All in all a good story. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the tale.

Historia
Told from multiple points of view - including those of James and Dolley Madison and a British admiral - this is the true story of the burning of the White House in 1814. It's unimaginable today, even for a generation that saw the Twin Towers fall and the Pentagon attacked. It's unimaginable because in 1814, enemies didn't fly overhead; they marched through the streets, and for 26 hours in August, the British enemy marched through Washington, DC, and set fire to government buildings, including the US Capitol and the White House.

Good book but,
Revisado: 12-22-16
Good book. If you don't have a background on the War of 1812 this book will give it to you.
Story rambles and gets lost sometimes but usually comes back to where it's supposed to be.
Narrator is okay. She tries different voices but the men all sound the same.
I would recommend this book.

Good
Revisado: 03-19-15
I like that Robin is able to keep the stories of the Duchies and Bingtown separate. Lite mentions lets me know this same arena.?
The narrator is good, she is able provide different voices during the story. My only complaint is that when she speaks softly is too hard to understand her.

Great story
Revisado: 06-05-14
If you could sum up Without Remorse in three words, what would they be?
Amazing story.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Not so much, Clancy does a lot of sub plots and it's hard to say ithis story would be a nail biter.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Michael Prichard?
This narrator is ok, not the best, so probably not.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No
