Worst book we have ever heard
Revisado: 09-28-08
This book has two strikes against it.
1. The story line is not-existant
When we had listened to the book for over 8 hours and we still do not know where the story was going then something is wrong. The story seems to jump around without any real target. Finally after about 10 hours it has a finale. Unfortunately, the story continues and when it does finally end it leaves you hanging. It is like the writer just got tired of writing and ran out of ideas so he decided to end the story.
2. The reader reads it like a romantic comedy.
He had a light and airy sound to his voice that was just not right for a mystery novel. Also, the
reader used a low pitched voice for Reubans, one of the main characters, which sounded like it belonged in a children's story. We both grimaced everytime he read the character's lines.
Do not waste your time on this book. We are very sorry we wasted ours.

Historia
Peter Novak, one of the world's greatest men, has been kidnapped! Running out of time and hope, Novak's people turn to Paul Janson, legendary covert operative and assassin. Janson is retired, and nothing could lure him back - nothing except Peter Novak, who once saved Janson's life. " Ludlum's best since The Bourne Identity," raves Kirkus Reviews.

Any book read by Paul Michel is a winner
Revisado: 08-24-06
This is a typical Robert Ludlam book with many twists and turns to the story as it progresses. To me this means he spends a great deal of time regressing to earlier times in an effort to explain why the hero is making certain decisions. Sometimes these get a little laborious, but worthwhile to the plot.
I will now look for books read by Paul Michael. I could not believe how accurately he was able to mimic various ethnic accents and to keep them a straight in his head as he read through the book. I found if very easy to lose myself to the book believing to be listening to a cast of people. Thanks Paul for making the book come alive.

Historia
On Parrish Island, a restricted island off the coast of Virginia, is a little-known and never-visited psychiatric facility. There, the government stores former intelligence employees whose psychiatric states make them a danger to their own government, people whose ramblings might endanger ongoing operations or prove dangerously inconvenient. One of these employees, agent Hal Ambler, is kept heavily medicated and closely watched. But there's one difference between Hal and the other patients, Hal isn't crazy.

The Ambler Warning
Revisado: 11-27-05
The story is great, but I strongly suggest the short version of this book. The author rambles on about many situations that do not add anything to the story. I can see how they can take this 16 hour book and shorten it to 7 hours. I found my mind wandering many times while listening to it.
