Don’t bother.
Revisado: 02-10-23
This is so slow I could not get through it. Repetitive and boring.
I had really enjoyed another book by this author so I was disappointed.

Historia
Hardly a day goes by when nine-year-old Laurent Lepage doesn't cry wolf. From alien invasions to walking trees to winged beasts in the woods to dinosaurs spotted in the village of Three Pines, his tales are so extraordinary no one can possibly believe him. Including Armand and Reine-Marie Gamache, who now live in the little Quebec village.

Remarkable
Revisado: 09-01-15
All of Louise Penny's books are filled with situations and deep emotions that most people want to keep hidden from their public persona and to suppress inside themselves for fear of what it will reveal. They evoke the entire spectrum of human feelings and I never want whichever of her books I am reading to end. She is a truly gifted author. The new reader does such a superb job that I almost forgot this was his first Three Pines novel.

A blaze at an abandoned chapel in impoverished Manorclough turns out to be more than just arson when the body of a man who has been shot twice is discovered in the ashes. For the Manchester Metropolitan police team it’s the start of a gruelling and complex case that exposes the fractures and fault lines of a community living on the edge. DC Rachel Bailey, recently married, is trying to come to terms with her new status and deal with the fallout from her chaotic family.

Intriguing

Good insight into the hearts & home lives of truly dedicated police officers, as well as the empathy they feel but cannot show the perpetrators they deal with.

Avid Listener
Revisado: 12-01-12
Where does Private rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Jack Morgan is an admirable man in this new series. It is one of my favorite series. I always look forward to James Patterson's books because he holds true to the core values that are important in life and makes the listener want to cheer on the good guys.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Private?
Jack Morgan seems to have no malice in his heart -even hating his brother is not something he would have chosen if his brother had given him any other way out. It makes me ponder the ever-present question of gentics - environmental - and the fact that people just come here a certain way from birth. I love having a hero (or 2) in a book.
What about Peter Hermann’s performance did you like?
His diction, inflections, and overall performance makes for pleasant listening
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
My heart ached for Jack Morgan at times - feeling the struggle of deep feelings - conflict of the ever present love, hate, and pain his brother and Father caused in him. I found the men that worked for Private had respect for & truly cared for each other.
Any additional comments?
In all of his books, it is very obvious that James Patterson is an honorable man. This is something that can only be taught through example by living it daily. It is a trait that is sadly missing in so much of the world we live in today. My hat's off to authors of exciting books that win by doing what it right.
