Historia
Deep in the heart of the Wyoming countryside, Sheriff of Absaroka County Walt Longmire is called to a crime scene like few others that he has seen. This crime brings up issues that go back to Walt’s grandfather’s time in Wyoming, as the revelations he learns about his grandfather come back to offer clues and motives for Walt’s investigation.

A move back in the right direction
Revisado: 10-22-23
the last couple Longmire’s had almost made me give up the series. They were so buried in the mystical Indian stuff and contained little of the rest of the Longmire characters that I was bored and just plain found it hard to suspend belief and get involved in the story. This was more like the Longmire’s of old. Not quite there yet, still missing a little of the old Longmire humor but much better. Was disappointed in the performance. The sound volume seemed to drift in and out and when I was trying to listen with earbuds while traveling, I had to keep adjusting volume almost to full volume and even then the words were hard to follow at times.

Historia
Naomi Novik’s beloved series returns, with Capt. Will Laurence and his fighting dragon Temeraire once again taking to the air against the broadsides of Napoleon’s forces and the friendly—and sometimes not-so-friendly—fire of British soldiers and politicians who continue to suspect them of divided loyalties, if not outright treason.

Beter than the last book.
Revisado: 09-24-12
Book 6 had really dragged for me. Was sort of black and depressing all the way thru. This one had more action and more going on but just left you with a big "too be continued". I think a book should reach some sort of a conclusion before you need to advance to the next book.

The Empire Strikes Back
Revisado: 10-17-11
I was waiting for this book eagerly. I had just listened to the one before again to get ready for its release. I have two main problems with this book.
The first and least important was Roy. The years since he did the last one were not all that kind to his voice. It was truely painful to hear him try to do the Dany sections. Why didn't they do like what they have done for the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time and get a woman to do the female POV sections and Roy or someone to do the Male ones? They must make enough money off a smash like this.
Second, this book reminded me a lot of the second star wars movie. It seemed like a lot of filler. Except for the last few hours, the story didn't seem to move on. It could have been way shorter and still have said everything that needed to be said. It just kept beating on the same points over and over again without adding much new. I was beginning to wonder if George gets paid by the word like Dickens used to be paid. He could have gotten the book out faster if he had just tightened it up a bunch and removed a lot of the repeditive sections.
I guess I had read the glowing reviews, been waiting for years and expected something wonderful. It was okay but not up to some of the previous books. Hopefully the next one will come quicker than 5 years and move along better.
