Historia
For 13 years, 22 series and 175 shows, Richard Porter was script editor of Top Gear, from the first faltering pilot episode in 2002 until the very last show presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in 2015. Along the way they destroyed cars, sparked diplomatic incidents, set fire to caravans, almost killed one of the presenters, and somehow transformed Top Gear from a shabby BBC Two motoring show into an Emmy-winning, record-breaking, planet-straddling behemoth.

Historia
On an August morning in England in 1943, a group of American airmen were told that before the day was out they would deliver the blow that would win the war. Flying the legendary B-17 Flying Fortress, their mission was to destroy the industrial facilities that kept the Nazi war machine in business-Schweinfurt's ball-bearing factories. But a determined and ferocious defense awaited the bomber crews of the USAAF's Mighty Eighth. Somehow, navigator Elmer Bendiner and his crew survived, their faithful B-17, Tondelayo, carrying them home. Hundreds of their young compatriots did not.

I grew up hearing stories such as told here. Very entertaining, clarifying, eye opening and stiring. A very worthy listen if you are so inclined.

Historia
Malcolm Gladwell, author of New York Times best sellers including Talking to Strangers and host of the podcast Revisionist History, uses original interviews, archival footage, and his trademark insight to weave together the stories of a Dutch genius and his homemade computer, a band of brothers in Central Alabama, a British psychopath, and pyromaniacal chemists at Harvard. As listeners hear these stories unfurl, Gladwell examines one of the greatest moral challenges in modern American history.

Well researched history... but....
Revisado: 07-07-21
... knowing history, and trying to understand what the primary actor's thoughts and motivations were is an honorable endeavor. Taking that history and spinning it to rewrite history to sympathize with an attacker and paint the original victim is less honorable. Was America innocent in all actions of the late '30s & '40s? Of course not. Was the war effort prosecuted by evil, narcissistic, sociopaths? Of course not. If you can get past the obvious bias of the author and listen only for the factual history and filter out the anti-America rhetoric, then you might find value in the cost of this title. If you don't want to deal with filtering out the obvious '60s overtones then you might just want to pass on this one.

For almost 70 years, there has been suspicion that his death was not an accident - and may very well have been an act of assassination. Great story. Bill did a passable job reading with only a few minor, but annoying production issues.

Historia
Polls reveal that 85 percent of Americans believe there was a conspiracy behind Lee Harvey Oswald. Some even believe Oswald was entirely innocent. In this encyclopedic, absorbing audiobook, Vincent Bugliosi shows how the public has come to believe such lies about the day that changed the course of history. Bugliosi has devoted almost 20 years of his life to this project, and is determined to show that, despite the overwhelming popular perception, Oswald killed Kennedy and acted alone.

Good solid evidence
Revisado: 08-04-12
Would you listen to Reclaiming History again? Why?
Yes, very easy to listen to and good, solid evidence given in a courtroom way.
What other book might you compare Reclaiming History to and why?
This is much like William L Shirers History of WW2
What does Edward Herrmann bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Very good actor, great voice, easy to understand, a very easy listen
Any additional comments?
Facts, just the facts mam. This is good stuff. Very clean, very consice with no "fluff" or emotion. Starts off quick, builds up and even in the last part where the author spends his time debunking the conspiracy theories, it is easy to listen to. I've read many of the books he debunks and it is a breath of fresh air to hear someone who knows the facts, and knows how to present facts in a manner to allow a person to "judge" the case solely on the evidence.
Very good book.

Excellent book, excellent performance
Revisado: 01-27-12
What made the experience of listening to The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich the most enjoyable?
The shear detail in this book is amazing. I've been learning about this subject for years and this book provides more detail and history than any other I've read.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
The subject for me has always been compelling enought to make me want to learn about in a single read. I found myself lost in its telling of the facts and losing track of time, but due to the total duration one would have to give up all other concerns and consume copious amounts of stimulant to get thru this without stopping.
Any additional comments?
Well done recounting of the amazing and terrible rise of a madman. Add in first hand experiances of the author to key turning points and this book is as close as it comes to being, if not is, the defacto standard of this dark and shameful part of world history.
