Historia
Taj is the most talented of the aki, young sin-eaters indentured by the mages to slay the sin-beasts. But Taj's livelihood comes at a terrible cost. When he kills a sin-beast, a tattoo of the beast appears on his skin while the guilt of committing the sin appears on his mind. Most aki are driven mad by the process, but 17-year-old Taj is cocky and desperate to provide for his family. When Taj is called to eat a sin of a member of the royal family, he's suddenly thrust into the center of a dark conspiracy to destroy Kos.

This book has been the most unique thing I have heard in a long time. The narrator is superb and I was put under his spell. Use your credit on this one folks—you won't regret it.

Great performance, long winded, predictable story.
Revisado: 12-16-16
I'm sorry to all the Dan Brown fans out there, but I just can't give this a top star review. I listened to the whole book and honestly, it could have been hours shorter/pages shorter. Don't get me wrong, the story was interesting, but man, the author needed to stop repeating the same details. Every time a character had to be updated on something or we heard a new perspective, Brown would have them recall previously hashed out information. It made for a dull listen.
Brown used the exact same literary devices over and over again for every new piece of information as well. Imagine your friend received a gift and they described everything about how they felt about it; who gave it to them, where they received it, and the shape of the box, but never got to the reveal of what the gift was! Yeah, that's this whole book... with every plot detail! I realized it was probably for suspense purposes, but man, it was like pulling teeth for me.
Overall: interesting plot, nicely researched historical information, vivid descriptions which could easily paint images in your mind, great character building, terrible repeating plot details and character dialogue.
Sorry, just not into it.

I don't understand why this book is rated highly.
Revisado: 08-17-16
What did I just hear?! 5% interesting story, 95% whining and loose plot. I feel like an Olympian after the hours of forcing myself to finish this book. Maybe I should have read it. The voice actors were of noticeably varying levels of skill and were either annoying or bad casts.

Historia
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Why is this a best seller?
Revisado: 03-04-15
I don't see how Gladwell has told us anything new. It's a collection of stories of how individuals with successful lives made it because of their connections, upbringing, financial status or the like. Each story paints the same picture which could be summed up in a short paragraph: success is arbitrary and just because you work hard doesn't mean you'll have it happen to you.
Boom, lfe changer right there... waste of a credit. His other work is better.

With Kafka on the Shore, Haruki Murakami gives us a novel every bit as ambitious and expansive as The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, which has been acclaimed both here and around the world for its uncommon ambition and achievement, and whose still-growing popularity suggests that it will be read and admired for decades to come.

Started "wow", downhill and repetitive from there.
Revisado: 02-23-15
To start, the book narrators are top notch. Very engaging and talented, too bad the book was not as fantastic as their abilities. if they weren't so good, I doubt I wouldve made it to the end.
This book began exciting and strange-changing timelines, converging stories- which at first was cool. But that wrapped up fairly quickly and then began to pander between characters who we never quite understand the relationship of. Incestuous themes aside, the plot was confusing and heavily masked with apathetic side characters and unexplained events. I dragged my heals to finish this.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.
